tires and subframe connectors will probably be your biggest bang for buck. LCA's and a PHB are supposed to work wonders on these cars as well, but I went with an IRS, so you'll have to wait for someone else to chime in on that!

Don't forget about bigger sway bars!

Scott, for doin it on the cheap, look for 87-93 V8 Mustang front and rear sway bars, find a set of eibach sportlines or H&R sport springs, and try to find a set of adjustable shocks and struts. I have Koni's on my black GT, Eibach sportlines, and stock V8 sway bars, and it handles well.

I think Tokico makes a moderately priced adjustable shock.

Although I don't have direct experience preparing a Fox, general recommendations would be full length welded sub-frame connectors (single best bang for the buck); lowering springs; shocks; strut tower brace; rear shock tower brace; and, control arms. That's the suspension, but tires are extremely important as well.

Before you do all that, biggest improvement will be those 4 round rubber things better known as tires.

Yep...and they suck. The Camaro is in the same class and handles much better than the Mustang. Your best bet is to run the stock class, add some sticky tires and exhaust and go have fun.

HAVE FUN is the main issue.

Autox like drag racing comes down to the fun factor vs. who has the bigger wallet.

You can learn MORE about driving and car control on greasy street tires or one of the "cheater" DOT tires that SCCA is trying to get under control.

Seat time no matter the setup is what means the most.

Yes, I have quite a few SCCA national champions in road racing and autox who are my customers. I don't have the time to scare the cones as much as I want too, but I still have fun when I get the chance.

Rule #1: HAVE FUN!

When you get to THAT point of throwing money at a setup to beat someone faster, be it cones or drag racing and it is no longer fun, know when to quit or keep running where you are at.

SCCA Pro Solo uses a xmas tree just like drag racing. I'm help a few if my customers on how to cut a better light. They still run the old .500 setup, one customer, while slower cuts a consistent .51x light every time.

The car currently has a subframes, a cage Gt sway bars, Sn95 gt brakes all 4 corners 275's rear and 245's front. I have a brand new set of b springs but I am thinking of buying a set of h&r's since they have a higher spring rate. I plan to do shocks and struts and hear the Bilstien hd's are good but they are big $ so not sure what to go with "bang for buck" wise.

I need seat time for sure but I do have a tad more training than most since I passed Justin bell's driving school and qualified for a SCCA license (never got it cause I can't afford a RR car).

Those mods will at least put you in the Street Prepared class. I think you only go to the Prepared class with some engine mods...but it has been at least 8 years since I last auto x.

If you want to get serious go to some more driving schools. I did Track Time at Mid Ohio and learned a lot. If you just want to have fun, invest in some sticky tires...I always liked Hoosiers....and go out and have a blast.

H&R race springs.... How bad are they on the street? I get that they are a higher spring rate but I also have a iron headed 393 up front and I'm .... well not tiny lol

I've got the Griggs GR40 suspension on my 94 cobra and it's insane what it did for that car. It handles better than my c6 vette did.

Anyone run KYB AGX's ? I looked at Koni double adjustables and I can't justify the cost. I have ran GR-2's before and liked them and these are better than them so.... maybe a good option?
