I keep hearing crap about the political shitstorm. Especially the latest Obama care....the welfare shit...the immigration crap...just brings me back. I am 42 yrs old. I am not a youngin. I have served. I have done what I am supposed to do.

Oh and what did I gain for my dedication and hard work? Oh! Well let me tell you!! I have served my country thru 2 tours in Desert Storm, worked my ass thru nursing school and 3 subsequent degrees, and still continue to serve my counrty and MY fellow veterans by working at the VA medical center.

And my just desserts? Paying for everyone else who still chooses to live off the government tit and a fucking useless ass president who supports it. But you know what?

I STILL have pride in serving this country. I still have PRIDE in the fact that I have provided FREEDOM for those who have earned it, and even those who haven't, or ever won't put one foot forth in trying to earn it.

At least I have fought for the freedom for those to choose. And while I UNEQUIVOCABLY HATE those who take advantage, or feel entitled to my efforts: I fought for your right to do so. And I stand by that right.

Lori. why I love you, in a scared way.

When I lost everything due being jobless not by choice in 2004 I only got 26 weeks unemployment that I had paid into for 20+ years.

I didn't sign up for food stamps or other "FREE" programs.

Ryan was the ONLY person to step up and help me move my crap into storage before he went off to serve in the sandbox.

DO NOT call me a free loader for living off the guberment. Call me a free loader for living back at home helping my 73 yo mother take care of the yard and other chores while she does more fun things than I do, Dad passed away in 1996.

Lori, I DO NOT like where as a country we are headed, matter of fact I fucking scared.

Likely I'll be dead before all this crap shakes out, my son stressed out and my GRANDSON fighting an endless battle, AGAIN!

Myself, at age 46 I have only ONE regret. I choose to be another 60-70 hour a week grunt rather than enlisting in the Navy like Dad did.

Oh my Bone...No need to fear me. Really?? I have myself taken unemployment benefits. After all, as a mostly employed person...we have paid into that. So you must know I am not referring to you, or anyone else on unemplyeement. Those folks have enjoyed those benefits as a result of ACTUALLY BEING EMPLOYED!!! Therein lies the differeance. Certainly you see that.

Just to clarify....ppl who are on unemployment...u paid into that by ACTUALLY HAVING JOBS!!!

No one holds that against you...at least I don't!

What I object to are folks living off the government tit and perpetuaTING it by propagating nothing more than another generation of those who would do the same.

It's an ugly cycle.

Lori, damn the free loaders.

I will admit I was TOO PROUD to accept a hand out, when I had nothing.

I will earn it. If it is given to me before hand I will make it whole and paid back double time..

If only the majority thought the same...

People are legally entitled to all this money according to the law. That sense of entitlement is dragging down America. Eventually the landowners are going to say "Fuckit... I'm not paying anymore." There will be class warfare between those who own land and those who live on government owned property (i.e. nearly everyone else by that point). It'll likely lead to a full on revolutionary war, and whoever the military picks to side with WILL win.

Probably not in my lifetime.. but eventually, the guys with the money will get sick of the freeloaders voting for more entitlements year after year. In the coming decades, "they" (ie those who pay no Fed Tax) have the numbers and will dominate the elections, voting in more people to give themselves more "free" money. Eventually the only option for the people footing the bill is to remove that government and it's entitlements. I guess you could leave the country, but where else are you going to go that isn't just as bad or worse from a entitlement perspective?

The path we are headed down does not look like a pretty one. Peoples greed is destroying our country. Its a shame the hard working people of america ( what this country was based on ) are living poorer than the criminals.

We are a product of our own environment. Greed? More like, Cheapskates. We all want a 100" Flat screen, with all the whistles and bells, BUT who wants to pay full retail for it? Im sure Walmart will have one that is $100000 cheaper than the American made one, so how many will actually pay for an American workers job that made that higher priced TV? Buy American? Pfft, there are a bunch of Hypocrites out there, but when it comes to actually step up, they step down and buy the cheaper stuff. We are ALL guilty of it.
There is no motivation for American Business' that make stuff to stay here in the States. God FORBID if they make a PROFIT!!! OMG!! Seems like they are penalized by having to pay for the LRs that want to stay home and watch Oprah and eat Bon Bons. Wait what? Say something about changing that? Ohhh you are a RACIST!!! The media will turn that shit and throw ya to the wolves. I would really like to know why the media isnt talking about all the current BS that the Govt has done, NOT just Obama, but congress.
Did you realize that RIGHT NOW, ANYONE, INCLUDING AN AMERICAN CITIZEN can be DETAINED/PRISONED INDEFINITELY!! NO trial, NO phone call, NOTHING your family can do. Only Obama can give you a pardon....Wake the Fuck up!! Get off your ass, Fuckin register to vote and do what many people have fought for your right to do.....VOTE!! The ONLY way we the Fucking People are going to send a message to DC is to keep voting these Cocksuckers OUT. Republicans, Democrats...ALL cut from the same cloth. Unfortunately, we are stuck with the "lesser of two evils"

Our Founding Fathers are turning in their graves.....:(

:agree:

Until trade is equalized @ our ports and americans learn to manage/earn their own money we will continue to decline. The government as well as the average american household is circling the drain- hopefully we can lift ourselves out of the bowl before someone grabs the little chrome handle.

Tonight @ the grocery store my son (3yrs old) snatched up a toy near the cash register and asked to get it. I flipped it over told him it wasn't made in america and told him to put it back. Used to hearing the response he sighed and elected for some candy (made in hershey pa). The woman behind us says- "you know that doesn't really matter." I looked back at her and replied "for his futures sake it really does."
As I pulled out of the spot she was walking thru the door and still had a confused look on her face.

Cracker, all I have is a 26" flat screen TV to replace a dead 27" tube.

I could have gotten bigger, but way? Mom did replace her 32" TV that died with a 42", it was cheaper than what she paid for the 32" 10+ years ago.

I am a product of whose grandparents went through the depression and my parents were born are WW2 era.

I've been so bashed about having a Honda on here and other forums. Guess what, it got me to work every day, with some Nytrous+ spray from Cincy Speed was a fun little car.
I might afforded a better car then, but couldn't justify it.

Do I want a 9-10 second DD Stang, hell yes I do! But not in the works right now. I could spend all I have and buy a nice ride, but what if I've jobless tomorrow?

Since losing almost everything I now have enough saved to survive approx 2 years living at home with no income AT ALL.

Buying a house then see you are TIRED of the 70 hour weeks needed to keep it, then become unemployed, that was a serious wake up call. Esp. back then when banks were greedy and out for blood.

I am a product of my parents and grandparents when 2-3 or even 4 generations lived under one roof so that everyone was clothed, sheltered and fed.

You didn't go hungry, you worked hard for what you earned, you enjoyed being around family. Annoying at times, yes. But ask those to look back and they wouldn't trade it for anything.

With the recent power outages with Ike a few years ago and the weather last week people are getting out to help and sometime for the FIRST time, meet their neighbors. AMAZING how that works and brings simple joy into a hectic lifestyle of today.

Slow down a bit, you might miss something!

Now about our country, I'll put it fucking simple. I AM fucking scared where we as a nation are headed. Unlimited spending, just look at Greece. I've paid in to Social Security for almost 30 years but never expected to see a dime of it. If it was all to go to those in need, esp. our serviceman both here (fire and police) as well as abroard, I wouldn't care.

But when a person, blind in one eye since birth, the deemed blind in other eye and unable to drive gets SS benefits for 6 years. When those benefits stopped suddenly they could pass an eye exam enough to go back to driving, like my cheating on her third husband ex-wife is doing.

In closing, I was raised on simple core values, the same values our nation was built on. I got the belt and switch if I got out of line, many a yardsticks from Sutherland Lumber were snapped over my butt. I learned not to do that.

Also, Chivalry is not dead. I will hold the door open for a lady or others, it is a common courtesy. Hello, howdy, yes m'am, etc all need to be used daily.

Enough of a beer fueled rant, not up to Cracker status but I've made my points.

Time for my rant... It also comes down to the people that have enough and are greedy and what more..
Example.. Im leaving some details out for the sake of peoples jobs..The person i know takes care of Payroll for State jobs and such.. One night they called me over to show me a bill that a sheriffs billed the state for... The bill was for 57k for 2 months... They took taxpayers money to watch prisoners work on a certain project.. They charged Subway, Wendys etccc everyday for 2 months...
Now last time i checked we pay for the prisoners, so why a 57k charge bc they can Greed....

Just a quick clarification. No companies left the country. They are still based here. That is how they are able to manufacture product overseas and then ship it here to be consumed. For example Nike, Apple and Microsoft. All American companies and all of their products produced overseas. The development and marketing teams are still here. Why did they leave? IMO, the problem is three-fold with number one being the countless state and federal regulations that must be followed in a manufacturing plant. Very expensive to follow these regulations. Secondly, for public companies pressure from stockholders which just so happens to be you and I with our 401K plans. Everybody wants a dividend or added value of the stock and if they can't get it they move their stock to a company that will provide one. Thirdly, is the labor cost which is substantially higher due to our higher quality of living(first world country). Faced with these additional costs and an business hostile government they move their operations overseas. How do you stop this or reverse it? Eliminate some of the ridiculous regs they have to follow and institute a tariff on any good manufactured outside of this country for the purpose of consumption in this country by any American-owned company. I would make the tariff equal to the price of the product. If it cost $500 it now cost double. Basically you would make it cost prohibitive to produce anything overseas and ship it here. If you agree I implore you to send emails to your representatives in government. You may not believe it will come to much but i can assure you it would amount to more than your bitching about it on a message board.
