So let’s start by saying no good deed goes unpunished and that it could always be worst. Saturday I was helping my neighbor outside so I let my dog (Cali) out. I set a big bucket of water out for her. Two and half hours later I am finished so I call for Cali and then I find her under the deck and she crawls out. I notice that she is dragging her back legs. So I panic thinking she had heat stroke, carry her in the house lay her down put a fan on her and start feeding Pedialyte. I call the vet he ask me a lot of questions and tells me what to do. He tells me to give her a couple hours to cool down and call back with a update. So a few hours pass by and she seems totally normal except cannot use her back legs. I take her in emergency and the doctor says this is unusual. There is no pain she can fell her feet she will pull/move them when you touch her paws. He starts giving her meds said he thinks it might be a clot that went to her spine and she is staying the night. She will have X-rays this morning and we are praying that it is not permanent or life threatening. My family especially the kids and wife are really upset and my other dog Cash is sleeping on Cali’s bed and started having accidents in the house. Cali is a boxer that is 6 years old and Cash is a boxer 10 years old. I know these are animals but you grow to love them spending everyday all day around them and the kids playing with them, they are part of my family. I guess you just never know when something might happen and I thank God that it wasn’t one of my children or my wife.

well picked her up from the vet and the X-rays showed her back fusing together. they think she was active and chipped a piece off which then lodged in her back. they do not think she had heat stroke. the good news is that she has a 50/50 chance to recover in the next 3-4weeks and she is not in any pain. I just bought her a wheel chair and now need to build a ramp on the deck. The famiy is very happy she is still with us and she is happy to be back home.

I've said it many times before, Boxers are the sweetest pets in the world! We, including Diesel the Boxer, will be praying for Cali's full recovery!

I have had 3 Boxers growing up and out of all 3 they have had hip problems, and thyroid problems. I guess its extremely common in there breed. Hope she pulls threw and lives a good long life for you and your family. They are a great breed, and very good with kids.
