When I give the 302 a bit of gas while its idling it seems to take a second to respond to the added fuel. There is also a loud whomp like it is sucking in extra air in that split second. I've cleaned out the idle air control valve and ran cleaner through the intake, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Any help?

Also it is an 88, which do not have the MAF I believe? It is also running cats with the o2 sensors plugged in. I have not pulled the codes yet

Sounds like vac leak of some sort speed density is very finicky for vacuum being its source of fuel curve
