I have an 01 mustang that has wheels from 09 I think and the back offset makes the wheels sit in too far for my liking. I want to move them out with some spacers but wondering whats the widest spacers that I can safely run.

Call mustangjon at Tire Discounters on Galbraith Road (just off I-75). He can tell you for sure. Check the website location for the number. I always have to do that myself since I never write anything down anymore.

You want as much wheel stud coming thru the wheel as possible. Spacers take that away. The thicker the spacer the lesser amount of threads.... the lesser amount of threads, the higher chances of lug nuts coming loose and backing off... because I was once told the spacers you can buy in a parts store are not a good idea.

95-04 = +20mm offset
05+= +40mm offset

I've seen on MM's site that you can run up to a 3/8 spacer safely with stock length studs. I have 5/16 on the front and they are really pushing it. but you could also run spacers with separate studs on them. I have the 1" spacers from AM on the rear, and they seem to work pretty well. depending on how far out you want, they have up to 1.5" spacers.

Those are great spacers, if you have the room, like you said. They even make them to adapt different bolt patterns

Only downside to those are, sometimes you have to cut your original studs

you're right jesse, that's something I forgot to mention. I think the 1.5" are thick enough that you wouldn't have to cut down the studs. which is probably what the OP would want considering the offset of his wheels. I would have had to trim mine with the 1" spacer had my wheels not had a good amount of empty space surrounding the hub on the inside. I think it is mainly a problem with stock wheels.

Id go with these. They are hub centric. I planned on picking up a set for mine since the 18x10's dont sit flush like my old 17x10.5's did.

Got and installed the hubcentrics. They look great and make the stance look much more manly!

You end up getting the ones in the link I posted? Im still thinking about it for mine. Knowing my luck Ill buy 1" and they wont be enough or Id buy 1.5" and theyd stick out like a foot on each side. lol I guess I could just stack up some washers on my lugs for measurement purposes.

Yes they are aircraft quality now and yeah I got the ones just like in the link you sent. I was thinking the same thing you were about maybe getting the 1.5s but it most likely would have caused problems. I think I am going to run 1/4 inch or 1/2 up front. Dont want to cut my studs though. You can drop a plumb line off your fender(I used string and a nut) and measure the line back to your current wheel and tire. Thats what I did. Should give u an idea without taking the wheel off. 1.5" would have been pretty scetchy for me. Now I just gotta get the ass lower. Finally got the clamps off the springs that were jacking it up.(still one of the dumbest hillbilly mods I have ever seen.lol) Made a lovely sound when going over a bump as a hillbilly bonus!

Chris, I'd have to check but I have a set of 1" or 1.5" spacers in my garage. I'd loan them to you to try out if you want?
