Anyone ever seen spring clamps that actually RAISE your coils? Instead of pulling them down, they are pushing them apart. Just happened to look into why the arse of my car sits up WAY too high and noticed this engineering masterpeice. If I remember when I tear it all apart I will take pics. Is this some hot rod trick I dont know about? Or just someone being stupid. I think the idiot did it because he was worried about the taller tires he was running might rub.. Either way, not cool.

That's some old school hillbilly trick, just like you said, for tire clearance.
