Only the right half of my guage cluster works on my 01 mustang. I put it into the guage diagnostic mode. Neat trick if you guys didnt know about it. 1. Key in ignition. 2. Push and hold the trip reset knob. 3. Turn the car to the accesory on or start the car. You can then cycle through a bunch of cool features including monitoring each guages input digitally on the odometer. Anyway the left guages dont sweep at all so Im guessing need a new cluster???? I can see all the values for each gauge on the odometer so I know the data is getting there. Here is the link for more details of that cool guage trick.

I did not know that, it sounds like a great trick!!!! I would almost say that the cluster is bad, maybe doing some testing using a volt/ohm meter through the pins on the back to be sure, or find a buddy with a donor one and hook it up real quick to make sure it fixes it

I was thinking about getting this. Check it out. Suprisingly not that expensive and very awesome.

Crap, just saw that. Wonder if I can find the v8 one. Im guessing the v6 one has a lower speedo top end?

Yah sounds like you have a cluster problem. Check and make sure that your harnesses are clean and clear of debre on the back of the cluster and then try reinstalling. I have seen some instances that the terminal contacts being dirty affecting them. BTW..... you still have to hook up some parts of the old cluster for the PATTs system.

Yeah I know it has been switched to a GT at some point since the car started life as a v6 so maybe was a bad cluster or bad install job. Ill know pretty soon I hope.

i remember switching a 96 v6 car to a v8 and when we couldn't get it running we were stumped...then i went under the old v8 dash seen a PATS box plugged it in and it fired right up....what a dumb easy fix!

Tim,
you have to change the ecm on the back of the gauge, i have the same problem i changed my 97 gt to a 94 gt and it didn't work i did some forum searching and read a few ppl that's changed gauges said you have to change the ecm on the back of your old gauge so your patts will read the odometer correctly idk but that one from AM looks awesome:bigthumb

Saw that setup in an edge after I sold mine. It looks very clean. Much nicer than a white face overlay. Reminds me of the custom dash we made for a friend's 1966 F100.

The newer units do not have the chip boards in the back of the cluster. It is all intergrated into the main board of the cluster. It also had a digital odometer in the 01's. The cluster is completely different than the 94-98's. But you are definately on the right track though.

Yeah the mileage and everything is right on mine and no issues with pats. Think I just have a bad cluster.

Yeah looks pretty easy to get apart. I found a bunch of clusters for $50 so it shouldnt be a bank buster either way.
