What all is involved? I found a guy selling a 70 Gran Torino but it doesn't have a title. Is it worth the hassel? I can get the car for less than 2k and it is all there just needs to be restored. It is not a rust bucket.

You can get a court appointed title . You go to the dmv and get the paper work fill it out and take it back and they stamp it you then take the paper work to whom ever the judge is they have over seeing that stuff and he will have you run a add in the local new paper for three weeks and set a court date for 30 days from the time you seen him . If no one shows up with legal claim to the car and can prove it he will stamp the title cost you $150.00 take that paper work to the dmv and they make you a title. You will need a bill of sale and the guys full name and addy for the paper work and I would get the bill of sale notarized if all possible .

If they dont have a title just walk away! If it was so easy to get the current owner would have already done so.

If someone else legitimately owns it and claims it after a huge hassle you may pay for the car to give it back to him. If it is a race only trailered car without tags you don't need a title.

I am walking away from it. I did find a 69 torino gt and a 67 mustang I am interested in and they both have titles.
