What would be the easiest way of getting rid of the huge gaping hole without taking the entire roof off? Went out and looked at a mustang tonight and I can't tell if its a aftermarket or stock but the entire thing was gone and there was just a hole with cardboard and tape left in its place.

Get anything that catches fire off the roof. Get a welder and a patch panel. Then alot of grinding and finishing.

Alright, I've got a sunroof lined up for it if its a stock cut, but if not that probably sounds like my best bet.

Yeah. Alot less chance of destruction.

Best way is to remove the roofskin and put another one on. Just patching it will warp the roof and never look right

X2 on this. My brother's friend tried to weld his up and his roof ended up looking like a wave in the ocean. The roof skin came off easy enough and you can always find a junk mustang with a good roof on it

That's what I did to my '88. I did a roofskin

The sheet metal is too thin and the welding will cause it to warp. I think the best bet is like andrew and stangman said get another roof skin. Just make sire to take your time and measure everything twice.

You'll go thru several small drill bits and drill out about 300 or more spot welds between the two. You'll have to pull your glass, side quarter windows, hatch, and a lot of interior parts to do it. Chances are, they cut the center brace out as well if its an aftermarket sunroof like mine was.

If I had to do it over id have found a cleaner car, but the price was right.

Yeah its not the funniest thing to do, but that's how it is.

Yup. I had never done one before and it went pretty smooth
