fuel pump issue

Figured this would go best under "other"...

So I hooked up a supposedly new big end/Holley blue pump. Has an inline stainless filter before the pump. The pump is acting weird, fluctuating pressure at the regulator.

From my understanding the big end brand is made by Holley.

I just got my new Holley blue and am wondering if the big end was just junk and a replacement will fix my issue... or if something else made the pump stop working and I need to check something else.

If it matters the fuel is from a Sumped stock tank to inline filter to pump through 8an...

When I first got my regulator on my carbed truck,I had to smack it with a wrench after I got it installed,it wouldnt regulate shit untill I beat on it.

would it jump around or just not do anything.

mine held where it was set until we drove it around the lot a little

started it yesterday and it held where it was set, no hiccups from the pump like before
