A co-worker of mine breeds Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. His bitch is one of the Top show dogs in the country. He just drove to NJ a couple weeks ago to meet up with a stud. Should have pups in a couple months. He sells them for around $1,000 each.
Email me directly if your interested and I'll get you his #.

That's a lot of mod money.....I have a black lab, got her from a rescue four years ago, free. She did need about $250 in shots!!!

I hear ya. I would rather own a mix breed anymore... most full blooded breeds have too many issues. Tmotor, your best bet will be the Sunday paper.

Check the SPCA. You can find full blood and mixed for about 125. They do have puppy's once in a while. I have two mutts from there. Great dogs.

Personally, I have a problem with people breeding for profit when there are 1000s of great dogs getting euthanized every day.
My last (4) dogs were mutts from the local shelter. All were great dogs (except for the one we could not stop humping people!). :bigthumb The dog in my avatar lived 15 1/2 years. He was the most loving creature I've ever met on this planet!
We paid $60 for our Chorky (Yorki-Chiauaua) this past Oct. Got $30 back after we had his nutts snipped off.
Go rescue a shelter dog. You won't be sorry. :bigthumb

If i can find the right puppy at a dog shelter i would drive up to 150 miles to get it.the ones at the rescues that are puppies could take weeks to get with application process, and fees are from 2-$300.i could get one from a shelter for less than $100 if i could find right one.
The animal shelter in lebanon on cook rd carries some rescue full blood dogs as well. They had a st bernard and a few others there a few months back.

Here's a listing of available Golden Retrievers in the Cincy area. Be careful to weed thru them and distinguish between the shelters and rescues. Much cheaper (little riskier) at the shelters.

Rescues are usually more expensive due to they are fixed and current on shots. Shelters that is not the case usually. Which no matter who or where you get your dog from is your responsibility as an owner. Good luck!

I my wifes sister bought our golden retriever from a Pet Store at the florence mall for 300 with all papers then she couldn't take care of it so gave it to us. I would check local pet store and see if they have any.

Camp Fire Kennels is where we got our black lab. Prices were way cheaper than any other breeder. They have a website and are very nice people.

I don't know of a shelter that adopts out dogs that aren't fixed. The reason Rescues cost more is because they are generally privately funded whereas a shelter is publicly funded (in most cases)
