I am looking for a fun dd that can accommodate 3 people. I had my heart set on a bmw 330ci (coupe) but after sitting in one I didn't really like it. The plan is next month to spend @ 6000 or so. I have been looking at the following. RX8, celica gts, rsx, 98 m3, wrx, sn95 cobra, 97 or newer 4.0 wrangler, saab, infiniti g35 sedan, acura, and a few other cars. I've just had so many cars nothing sounds fun anymore. What have you guys had that you had fun with.

Most of those cars seem to be way over 6k. But they all sound cool.

I'm able to go more. Some are closer to 7500 and some are closer to the six area. Everything on that list I have found for between 6000 and 7500. Thats asking prices.

I work at a car lot so I have some connections that help on pricing.

+1 for the Geo metro... gotta go old school and get the vert. Big ole 3cyl. Or get a ford festiva or assfire. Nothing like 45 mpg

Or the wrx or Acura...

I rock a '93 K1500 standard cab, long bed for a DD. It fits 3 on a bench seat, tightly if there's a big person in the cab though.

I love it because I don't care if anything hits me, or if I hit anything. Takes out trees and stumps like a champ, and not too bad in the mud either.

Lol. I am going to pass on the reg cab truck. I've done it in the past and it is fun though.

i just bought a jeep wrangler, i wasnt sure whether I would really like it or not but I needed something practical so i got it. I've really enjoyed it so far, its a good a to b car, and now that we have some decent weather i've got the doors and roof off and its alot of fun

I just picked up an 06 Mazda RX8 6spd for a dd and its a blast to drive. Its fast enough to piss all over the ricer boys civics and most lt1 cars not to mention it handles like a flippin gocart. If you can find one in your price range I highly reccomend it.:bigthumb

Without a doubt, tha funnest daily driver Ive ever had was a 93 coupe with an 87 Turbo Coupe motor. If it would have had a posi 8.8 with 4.10s and working AC I would still have it.

I already have a nice fox. Want a little more dd friendly.

The one I had was very DD friendly, minus what said about AC and Gear. It still had the 3.73 open end 7.5 I sold it to Carl (USAF STANG) and hes had a blast with it too. Something to think about. Id like to build another someday.

Mazdaspeed 6 is stupid fun. Very technoligically advanced to boot - the AWD system is amazing for a street car.

I looked into an rx8 before I got my jeep. They are a blast to drive but they have longevity issues and I needed something reliable and that will be good in the snow

My fix is def dd able but the drag radials and 20 dollars a day to go to work won't do. That and it only has @ 60,000 documented miles...

Well then get an S197 body.

I may but the only sn95 I would really want would be a fairly stock cobra. Its def a poss but not sure yet. Im going to lowball a bunch of stuff and see who wants my money I think

What about a z3? I've seen a couple sell for 6ish.

If you're wanting to stay American or Japanese, I'd also consider a Miata. As long as you aren't super tall or fat, they're comfortable enough to daily, get 30++ mpg, are reliable, and handle like a go kart. Not fast in a straight line, but more fun than other practical dailies.

I'd also look into another Fox or sn95 stang too, like the fox Racer X has for sale. As long as they're not built crazy, foxes can be great dailies and will be in your price range.

He has a Miata so those are probably out. Why not just make a monster miata sean? Thatd be a fun daily!

Mazda 3. Fun to drive. Handle like crazy and mines been very reliable. Seen quite a few in the 200k range and still going

sean

I'm looking for more of an impractical family car. Wrx or rx8. Even celica or rsx. Don't care if its a coupe or sedan but has to have a back seat

Look into GM's W-Body's. I have a Impala SS with the 3800 S/C motor and they can scoot.

W-Body models with super chargers:
97-03 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP,
97-04 Buick Regal GS (GSX, SLP performance package 270Hp/312Tq)
00-05 Monte Carlo SS
04-05 Impala SS
06-07 Monte Carlo SS (5.3L V8)

We had a '02 wrx for a daily a couple of years ago and it was awesome. I loved that car, sad we ever got rid of it. Bonus though, we had a 2.5L and 6spd swap in it. It was fun in the snow :)

sean
03-21-2012, 12:11 PM
I do like the wrx. I have found a few but I dont want anything that has been beat to death by some spoiled kid or had every autozone piece of rice thrown at it.

If you like the WRX look for a Legacy GT same 2.5 motor/6 speed bigger car.

build a focus w/ 5.0 drive train, I seen them build one with a bolt in kit, that would be an awesome dd

03-27-2012, 10:11 AM
I also seen a RX7 with a 302 5-speed, i think that'd be a lot of too! I would like to big either a nasty 4cylinder turbo fox body or a nasty turbo'd straight six just to be different and get decent gas mileage too.

But So there is no cross breading to those who dont like that, the Ford Focus would be the better choice but it'd be close on that Budget but i think you could do it. talk about a sleeper

Had something come up that kept me from getting something and put a good friend in a tough spot. I was able to get a car off the lot to drive that is a cool ride for sure. A 2012 mazdaspeed3. Turbo 6 speed. Little thing is nasty. Would love to own something like this. The clown car needs work. Oil leaking from the crank.

I had my heart set on a bmw 330ci (coupe) but after sitting in one I didn't really like it..... and you didn't drive it ? WTF good is that ? Have you ever driven a Bimmer ? There's a reason they're called the Ultimate driving machine.

I have an old (94) 530i w/207k. Awesome car! Does everything extremely well. Doesn't compromise anything. It has DOHC 3.0L V8 (yes.... Very small V8) that absolutely screams!

I'll be upgrading to a newer 5 Series not to far down the road.

Check something like this out....

I have driven the bmw before and like the way they drive. The model I wanted just didn't feel right to me. The turbo mazdaspeed3 I'm borrowingright now is an absolute blast.
