So I have a 2000 GT and today I was driving down the road, got on my car a little bit, and then heard a small pop sound  and then all kinds of smoke ...luckily I was close to my step-brothers house so I could stop somewhere to let it cool off and look at it....after the smoke died down, I found the culprit. Where the heater core hose connects to the intake manifold completely broke off...so now I have to buy a new intake manifold because the piece is made to the intake manifold...My reason for this post is, my step-dad believes this would be too big of a job for us, because we don't have the right tools, and I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere I could take it that wouldn't be too outrageous to have this done....Thanks in advanced!

Its not that bad of a job to do. Just takes a couple of hours with basic hand tools. I would use a aluminum crossover intake to replace the all plastic. Use a Ford replacement vs a dorman.

Don't you need special tools for the fuel injectors and fuel rails???

This is the manifold I ordered from Jegs last night, thats supposed to be here by tomorrow:

A fuel line tool would the only special tool you may need. The last time I did one I left the fuel lines hooked up to the rails and just worked around them.

That will work fine. It's an easy job. It's a 2 hour job tops. If you wasn't so far away I would help you. Also, get you a set of new intake gaskets if it don't come with them. Local part store carries them.

Ok, thanks guys, I appreciate it a lot, think I'm going to take it to a shop in Alexandria, they said they'd do it for $100.

Man, I'd do it for $40 if you brought it to me. Just do it yourself. It's easy.. I hate to se people waste money on easy stuff.

Intake is very easy to change, we are doing cams now on a 2000 and an intake with an aluminum crossover. Do it yourselves and put the money toward someting else.
