Looking for some Lead metal...don't really care what shape it comes in. I'm going to be melting it all down to cast bricks of it. Looking for ~150-200# of it.

Old batteries are your best source if you know of anyone that has some, the newer wheel weights are not lead anymore. An indoor gun range is another source for lead, the problem is that most of these places sell it for scrap to make a few bucks. Its harder and harder to find scrap lead, most of the weights I see everyone using are just plate steel bolted in.

I might be able to help you with 2-3 25# lead bricks.

Just a note to anyone considering melting the lead from batteries for anything....make sure you have drained ALL the fluid from the battery and rinsed the lead plates with water and let everything dry before you go to melting! Don't want anyone going up in flames!

I will not be messing around with car batteries just to get the lead out of them. Battery (Sulfuric Acid) acid is NO joke....while I don't think you will go up in flames messing with it...it can give you some very nasty chemical burns or even burn your lungs if you inhale acid fumes.

I plan on doing the smelting outside in open air using a propane burner and a old pot. I already get exposed to enough nasty chemicals at work...don't need to add anymore at home.

Most automotive battery shops (the mom and pop type)will give you like $4-5 bucks each for old batteries now..more for the bigger truck ones. I know Canter battery on Town Street in Elmwood place does.
