oil catch can question

what is everybody running for an oil catch can? where are you getting them? i dont want to get a junk one so i thought id ask. thanks

I made my own. All the parts you can get from Home Depot. Here is the one I used. http://www.homedepot.com/buy/tools-hardware/air-compressors-tools-accessories/husky/1-4-in-air-compressor-filter-61421.html You will need to get some rubber hose from any car parts place. All the fittings came from Home Depot as well. Very easy to do. Will cost around $25. i like that the canister is clear so you can see into it.

Did you try it? Bottom is spring loaded or the cylinder can be screwed off. I just put a paper towel on the bottom and empty it that way. I used brass fittings, but you can paint them any color you want.

i havent yet.. i see what youre saying though. been working on the 65 pony and just mainly looking at the 89 sit there..lol ..thanks for the tip though!

It is an oil separator that is used in F/I modded cars that have a PCV vapor return system (feeds back into intake system) on the car. The boost can create a pull on the PCV system that will allow oil vapor (in additon to the standard expected crankcase pressure vapors) to be pulled back into the intake which can cause idle and power issues if great enough.

If being EPA compliant isn't your bag, you can remove the return lines and mount filtered breathers on the valve covers in lieu of. Of course the connections on the intake side must also be blocked off to prevent major vacuum issues.

If running a car with a stock F/I setup (ie 03 cobra) and you aren't overdriving the SC the factory setup should suffice. N/A cars need not be concerned with this issue as I understand it.

Here is a really good brand of catch can. You should check this out!!! This is the type I plan to put on my sixer, and they have a really good design and test proven.
