You wont have any trouble with the trans at all. You can go with a set of comp 270's or a set of stage 1 Trick Flow cams to give you a little pickup. I would no matter what upgrade your springs.

Any idea of what kinda gains would be had with either cams and stock heads without any work done to em? I was considering putting cams in mine too but was thinking the stock heads would hold it back.

Stock pi will see decent gains. You will se the biggest pickup on the top end. Mod motors seem to always flatten out around the 4800 mark and with the cams it will pull a lot stronger.

As far as power, I've seen from 20 rw to 60 rw. Just depends on your setup.

You will get more response from the car by putting a converter in it first. Definately more bang for the buck.

With gears and the wide ratio in the 4r70w unless you exceed 3800 you'll barely notice. These aren't like driving an old c4 or aod. Stop by sometime and I will show you what a mild stall feels like in one of these. I have a car here that will be done in about a week that will be a good example. My thunderbird isn't a very good example because I have a 5500 in it.

Xpipe ftw. Gives it a more exotic high pitched scream! 2v cars sound nasty with an o/r x and two chamber flows

The springs on a stock PI heads just don't have to rebound that good springs have. If the engine has alot of miles on it, with making some decent power you will see valve float and if you use too large of a lobed cam you can bind and break the springs. If your going to change the cams, while you already are digging into the heads, I personally would just go ahead and change it all and make it where it will last. JMO...

BTW: My car has one of DirtyDogs converters and it don't seem bad at all.

get with nick at MHS over on corral and he'll hook you up with a good set of N/A cams that won't REQUIRE a stall although it's always recommended. have fun these modulars aren't bad little motors.

You would definitely be able to tell it had a 3800 stall doing alot of stop and go driving it has nothing to do with whether or not it has a c4 or a 4r70w the only difference is another gear and a lockup feature which wouldn't be doing a thing unless u were cruising the converter would always act the same in either tranny when u take off from a light or sign and the converter would have to be a little loose to get 3800 from a 300hp motor It wouldn't be bad but it would be noticeable
