Anybody remember Cars Illustrated magazine (Tony Defeo)

Found these scans of Tony D's stripper 1987 LX. Factory delete radio and AC. I think the car went a best 13.89 stock with 3.08's. Anybody remember reading about it?

Yeah I bought every issue off of the newsstand with issue #1 in 1985, it was an awesome in your face mag about the hottest cars of the day and how they really ran on the street and strip. Tony Defeo and Neil Van Oppre?.....those guys showed you how to get it done with a 5.0 Mustang!

I read every issue myself in high school math class HA!HA! I think Cars Illustrated actually became MM&FF magazine?

Better than those math books I'm sure! but yeah Cars Illustrated did become MM&FF in the late 80's. I remember Defeo's car ultimately went 13.75 @ 101.xx with the "10 minute tune-up" on gatorbacks with 3.08's.

After that in consecutive issues it went 12.97 @ 105.xx with 3.55's, short belt, M&H's, skinnies, pullies, and a few other things I can't recall. Cars Illustrated was way ahead of it's time, for me there has never been another magazine that grabbed you from the first page!
