94 GT New Combo

Seems like their are a few people building new NA combos this year that are keeping them secret so I was going to play the same game, but somebody let the cat out of the bag. Everybody I have talked to lately some how knows exactly what I'm doing so I guess I may as well start a build thread.

I sold my 347 short block a couple months ago, and bought a Dart sportsman block. I was going to build a 363 and put a big blower on it and a power glide, but I decided that the all motor stick stuff is just to much fun and I wasn't ready to give it up yet. I thought I was going to be stuck with the Dart block, but it finally sold yesterday.

The new engine is a 418 windsor. It's being built right now. I'm going to use my box stock Victor Jr heads on it, but I have not decided on an intake yet. It will still be efi though for sure. I'm going to stick an Anderson N111 cam in it and set of Mac 351 swap shorty headers. This combo is def not up to par for the 418, but it's just going to be temporary. I just want to get it up and running so I can enjoy it this year. This fall I'm going to get a better set of heads, Kooks headers, and probably switch to a solid cam. It should really come alive and make big power then. The car is still going to have the face plated G force T5 in it. I'm hoping to have a cage in it this spring and have the car running and done some time in May. I will post pics as I go.

Sounds cool Mike, you'll be able to run 10's on the hottest day of the year now. And come next year when you get the combo the way you want it, 9's are definitely a possibility.

Change of plans. I just bought the Dart 427 from mustangboy. The shop that was building the 418 kept dicking me around so I cancelled the order.

Lol, no turbos for me. I will put some boost to it in a couple years. It will be all motor for a while. Might mill the heads down some to get the compression up. I would love to buy the Ysi from draggin, but I need to be realistic here. The car is just not set up for that kind of power yet. I'm not down for having a 2-3 year project. Just want to get it running and make upgrades as I go.

Nope staying stick. Someday when I put a blower or turbo on it I will switch to a glide. As long as the car is na it will be a stick.

It's not going to make crazy power with the dish pistons. I would guess 60-80hp more than what I made last year. I might mill the heads to help out some, but I dont want to take a ton off the heads because it will make it hard to sell them when the time comes.

I agree 9.60's on a carbed 418 and 100 SHOT, yes a 100SHOT!!! (you know who you are) Was alot of fun!!!!! Now to see what a "302" can do on a 100 shot yes a 100SHOT!!! (once again , you know who you are) lol good luck man car should run as good as it looks cant wait to see it run.

Thanks man, the 418 I was going to have built was going to be 13:1 compression. I was planning to go 9's NA with that thing. I don't think I will get there with the 427 since it's going to be 9:1. Once I get a blower on it and a glide it will be on though!

I also have a Coan Power Glide and converter for sale also. They warranty it as long as you ship it to them each year for them to fresh it up each year.
Trans-converter-shifter-cooler ect.

Brought the 427 home today. I'm flat broke now so there probably won't be any updates for a while lol. Still need to buy lifters, push rods, distributor, intake, balancer, oil pan, and some other things. Still shooting to have the car done in May.
