Excited for upcoming tax return, bummed I'm getting my 2010 return audited by random. Gotta take all my 2010 stuff downtown on the 24th for the audit. Not really worried, just a pain in the ass!

Hope everyone is able to use some of their tax money for Mustang stuff! I know I will be using a chunk of mine on my car!

Hoping to get as close to a zero return as possible.
Why give them an interest free loan?

It's a savings account for me. I take extra out for a bigger refund. I can't save money if I got it we spend it so this works best for us.

Why not setup a direct deposit savings account and make a little interest on it?

Deadline is April 17th this year.

I might finally have to pay Federal income tax this year. Haven't paid any since 2005.

Now that 15% payroll tax, that sucks!

I'm single, white, and male- therefore tax time does not excite me in the least. Unlike all those hood rats on the TV commericals "I got back another $5,300 on last year's taxes" WTF? $5300 more? On top of what you got already? JFC.

You guys letting your taxes be your savings accounts need to sack up and handle your money like a big boy who's all grown up now. No offense, but saying "we can't have it or we'd spend it" shows you have zero self control. Getting thousands back from the government means you just lost at least a hundred bucks on that interest free loan you gave them. Year after year, you are losing thousands of dollars in compounding interest.

Paying two house payments and a kid, I imagine Ill be gettin something back. But I hate that I let them borrow MY money for free all year long and then think its so great I get some back.

Donate your refund to the less fortunate and welfare recipients. Your president will thank you!
I prefer to have it even or $100.00 either direction.

Looks like a big return this year. Getting married, claiming single-0 and uncle sam nabbing me for $20k in payroll tax this year, I'll be able to get my junk painted.

Can't you only declare the mortgage interest from a primary residence??

I paid 31k in federal and I'll still owe money. Makes me real salty to see people who don't even make 31k a year get 5k back.

Ditto.

Its always nice to get money back but I hope to come out to zero in the end. Usually I get back from the federal government but owe the school district, city, and state.

Lol. I paid that much in federal by July. The problem isn't the tax bracket. It's that by the time u have paid all the taxes I paid almost 40k in taxes and will still have to send them a check. It's really a unfair system. If u work ur butt off to get a college education or work lots of hours like I do they penalize u for trying. If u make 30k a year u get a pat on the back and a nice check. It's a joke.

When the wife was working she earned commission every month and it made it hard to break even with the Feds. We always had gotten back money but not much.

This year we'll owe state since they didn't take state taxes out of the unemployment checks but they sure took their taxes. Also last year I get a full deduction for my son :(

01-27-2012, 11:26 PM
Does anybody ever get money back from the state. I claim married with 1 dependent then on my taxes claim married with 4 and still never get anything. Just wondering because it seems like I would get a return on that. If I claimed that way with federal I'd get a huge check back. Lol

yeah I got back $700 from state.

Just as a FYI.... If you have e-filed your taxes, there might be a delay. Appearently the servers at the irs went down and the e-files are going to be delayed for a week. If you file around mid February they are saying that they will be all caught up, but until then you might have a delay...
