Pretty simple, for those that have experience with "Tablets" which have you had that you prefer? and why? Im sure the Ipad is very popular but what about some of the others like Asus, Samsung, Sony etc?
I want somehting for internet when Im out and about, ereader capabilities etc. My home PC's are all windows based.

I work on everyone's phones and tablets at work and have yet to find an android tablet that functions as well as the iPad. If you have a smart phone you dot need the 3 or 4g service on the tablet just Bluetooth tether to the phone. If you are against the iPad then I would go with the eepad transformer prime from Asus.

I have an HTC android phone and it works so well that I have no desire to own a tablet. Actually we got some kind of android tablet for xmas, but I've only touched it once or twice. I just dont like using it. I either want to be on a lap top or my phone, not something in between. Tablets are just an awkward size in my opinion. When I'm at home I keep my phone connected to WiFi and if I'm out it has 4G service. I'm always going to have my phone on me anyway, so why carry a big tablet and a phone? The only benefit I can see to having a tablet is the bigger screen, but if I need that I can take my lap top.

I have a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab picked it up for $200 from www.woot.com
Can't beat it for the price. Runs Android 2.3 just as seamlessly as my iPhone runs iOS.
Not much it can't do an iPad can't for far less money. iPad is a great tablet just way over priced for my needs.
I mainly surf the web and skype.
It's wifi and 3g capable. I bought mine without a contract so I can pay for a month at a time from Verizon if I want. Haven't yet as I am on wifi pretty much all the time.

I have an Asus Transformer Prime coming in the Mail monday. It just got the latest and greatest Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" OS on it. I'll let you know what I think of it after I get a chance to play with it some.
Rick, what exactly are you looking for in a Tablet? It will help to know which direction to steer you in.

well, if one of the tablets were given to me, I would probably play with it but for the most part, I don't really have a pratical use for it.

thats what is bad with Ipad/Ipod/Iphone apps is that they cost ridiculous amounts of cash for the software.
Android software is mostly $5 and under. I just can't see spending $20 a hit for software for a mobile device.
