My co-worker is looking for a good reataraunt in the Dayton Mall area. He wants to have his family (18 people) meet there for a family dinner this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions on somewhere he can make a reservation ahead of time? Someplace with great food and a good atmosphere.

J Alexanders thats one of my favorites Champs also has a large menu and great atmosphere and Chop House is there also. Stay away from Carvers Steaks and Chops.
Id say Champs for a large group that place is huge and they have a nice room with a fire place.

You could also try Bullwinkle's in Miamisburg. Its not far from the Dayton Mall and they should be able to accommodate a group that size.

X2 for Bullwinkles. JAlexanders is a great place, but for 18?, you're lookin at about $45 per head if you have a drink. Chop house is a little less expensive but Bullwinkles has the best ribs in the state. (Sorry Montgomery Inn lovers)

Chop House has THE BEST steak I have ever had in my life! Might be a bit pricy though depending on how much you want to spend per person.

Dark Horse Tavern has the best BBQ around, they have an upstairs, so you can be private. T.J. Chumps is good, and Bullwinkle's, Ron's Pizza. All of those places are good, not corporate, and good atmosphere. Grub Steak is another good option.

Dark Horse Tavern....damn I never remember the name of the that place. I drove past it when heading to Fed Ex to pick up a package and thought it looked like a place I needed to try.

They also have very bad reviews on line also. It use to be good 7 - 8 years ago but it's been going down hill it was suppose to close a few years back. Iv'e Been there about 5 times and every time theres a problem with the food, service ect. The last time was the last draw the wife laid into them real good, (Manager did nothing at all for us). I've been to alot of high end steak houses all over and the best one i've been to is Tonys down off Montgomery Rd fields ertle area they broil there steaks at 800 degrees and it's amazing, melts in your mouth........ and if you get the ribeye it's about 3" thick and takes up the whole plate. I never could bring myself to pay $75 a person to eat at a higher end steak house but once you try it you'll be hooked. Carvers is not even in the same ball park with places like Ruth Chris's, Carlos Johnnys, Eddie Merlots, Tonys, Final Cut, Jags. These guys are on another level.
Go try Tonys guys you'll love it.
Man all this food talk is making me hungry!

I must admit I'm with chris. Carvers was awesome for years ate there once a week. Now every time I'm there the steaks are wrong. Not just cooked wrong but crappy meat. Like they went to cubs for it. I used to love carvers but lately it sucks. I can do a steak on the grill better. So my wife says.
