theres gotta be some "somewhat open" areas, to crawl or jump,
ramps would be good too

Jump what? Thats how you break/bend stuff I like to keep my wheels on the ground. You might try Indiana Dunes up north or you could go to the mall and climb the parking blocks. Those are not scrapes those are Pin Stripes. After you wash 300 pounds of clay and mud off you can just touch up the scrapes with a rattle can

Scratches and dent are part of wheeling. Either keep it on pavement or get use to scratches

Jump away and hurt stuff then. Even the Raptor has bent frames before.

Tweeking or no tweeking you take something that heavy up in the air and land on the ground even perfectly your still going to be causing stress which leads to the cracking and bending. Even if you dont bend the frame you've still got to worry about your ujoints going out on you. Cars/trucks weren't meant to be flying through the air or they woulda put wings on them.. But back on topic. The only place that I can think of to mud without trees would be on a farmers / country boy's property and they aren't to happy if you just pop in there and do a nice big ole donut in their plot of corn. If you know anyone who rides fourwheelers try asking them.

Haspin has a couple main trails that are open. I took the Hummer through a few and left without a scratch.

try Haspin. Do not try the whole farmers/country boys property, that may lead to a healthy fine and multiple chargers. I learned the lesson the hard way, long story.

Try Badlands up in Attica, Indiana. It's about the closest to open desert you're going to find around here.
http://www.badlandsoffroad.com/
You're in the Midwest, man...it's all about rock crawling and the woods around here. You want wide open, you've gotta go west.

You get a raptor?

Stay away from Haspin. The best place for you locally would be Big ROck in Maysville. Close to 2000 acres of land with a majority of it open fields. They also have what they call and "Adventure trail" that is pretty wide open and meant for stock vehicles to get offroad without having to worry about tearing up anything. Badlands is about 4 hrs away for you but would be fun in that Raptor. If you still have it next summer, plan a trip to Silver Lake dunes in western Michigan. Nice family vacation spot and that Raptor would be a blast in the dunes.

Big rock is tha shit, spent the weekend over there this summer, and had a blast . We took four wheelers , dirt bike's , and a couple off road trucks . They also have a small camp ground for those who want to stay , and enjoy a two day adventure.http://bigrockoffroadpark.com/

That video was taken at Silver Lake dunes in Michigan. That's where we go every July 4th weekend. It's a blast and would be lots of fun in that Raptor.

It would be cool to see an ecoboost in the raptor... The 3.5 TT has plenty of power to keep up with the big dawgs.

Thats where I'm from, I was born in Hart which is about 5 miles from the dunes. My Grandmother still lives there, a stone through from Silver lake. Very fun area for sure.

May parents live in Dalton Township which is just north of Muskegon or about 40 minutes from Silver Lake. I love Western Michigan and would move up there if I could find a good job.

Have family in Muskegon as well, I love going up when we have time. late summer early fall just doesnt get any better. Do you know where the go carts are at Silver Lake? My grandma lives right on the corner across from the general store. I used to love going up there when I was young, we would sit on the porch and it was like a crazy car show every night. Big trucks and buggies everwhere.

IMHO Haspin is kinda dangerous, lots of crazies out there. I hear good things about Big Bone.
I would like to find a similar place, more open maybe like fire roads. I have a Honda FL350 Odessy, it's a like a little dune buggy, wicked fast. But I really haven't ridden it much the long time I've owned it.
