Greg left his fryer over here from the time we did the low country boil and I'm wanting to try and fry a small bird tomorrow afternoon.

Any of you guys who have done it, have a recipe or some tips on how to prep it? I read that you need to cook it 3-1/2 minutes per pound.

Make sure that bird is thawed all the way out and drier than the sahara desert.

Did I tell ya there's a charge for using the cooker? :D Just go ahead and do 2 birds and we'll call it even. ;)

Seriously, as long as the bird is thawed completely and you have your oil level right, all should be good. You might want to put water in the pot, with the bird, etc., prior to cooking, so you can get the oil level where you want it. Frozen bird + too much oil = insurance claim for Rick.

Rick was spot on, that Alton Brown guy laid out the process pretty clearly. I've seen him on TV before but didn't know his name. He always shows the science in cooking.
