I have a little tank, i think it's 20 or so gallons. I used to use it just to keep fishing bait alive, and a couple years ago we had about 5 or so goldfish that we didn't use that season. They all eventually died except this one and i swear this fish is immortal, he's been through everything so now i can't bring myself to put him on a hook so he became a pet. About a month ago i added a Koi to the tank, and last night i came in and he was laying on his side at the bottom of the tank. He's in a bowl by himself now but i don't think he's gonna make lit.

If anyone has any idea why my little Koi is about to die let me know. The tank did get pretty dirty, filter is working fine, clean filter. I was under the impression that Koi's are just another breed of goldfish, but is having him in with another goldfish the problem? The tank was always crystal clear before i put him in.

I have no idea coupe. Sometimes fish just die from the stress of moving or environment changes. We pit two cherry barbs and two green barbs in my wife's tank last week and the two greens died 2 days later but everything else is fine. That's a bad ass 150 Turbo. I'm hoping to pull together a 125 in the new year. I probably won't do salt yet though.

I have a 55 Gallon with african cichlids, well it was full of african cichlids, just one now. We had to move the tank to get new carpet put in and it stressed them all out getting moved so much (into buckets, then back into tank, then back to buckets, then tank again) that they all died except one. and now when i try to add fish the one left is very territorial and beats them up till they die... so im down to 1 right now and im not sure what to do with him. I was thinking about going back to angel fish after i get rid of this guy

What kind is my fish? or my tank?

Where do you go to get your fish? ive had the best luck finding a good selection of cichlids at petland by jungle jims but id like to find somewhere that is a bit more knowledgeable about fish.

Flyin2jz- awesome tank! that makes me want salt to but i hear its very hard to achieve a nice tank like that. maybe you could give me some pointers if i go salt lol

I learned everything from reefcentral.com. I keep sps corals which are very finicky about water quality. A regular fish and live rock tank is really easy. The salt never leaves the water with evap so u just add fresh ro water when it gets low. It's a very bad addiction so I'm warning u. Some of the corals I have are worth thousands of dollars and grew them from 1in pieces. I had a tank crash a coue years ago and killed literally 15k worth of corals.

260 gallon. They grow quick with a calcium reactor and alot of light. I have 4 250w halides on it. The initial setup cost is high but once u get going it's not bad. I buy 1-2 in pieces from other reef guys and grow them out and resell the pieces I grow.

What kind of cichlid is the survivor? Check out all about pets on 42 by western row. Dave is very knowledgeable and has an awesome cichlid selection... as well as salt water. I had a guy tell me yesterday to just get a 14 gallon Bio cube to try out saltwater. So now I want to.

Smaller tanks are tougher to do. Think of an auditorium if I smoke in the upper level you will never smell the smoke. If I smoke in a car you will. Larger amounts of water are harder to change quickly. Quick changes in water quality are bad news in salt. I'd do a minimum of a 55gallon. Buy used stuff off craigslist and see if u like it. Don't buy anything new. You will soon be buying a 300 gallon. Lol

I'm not sure on the exact kind he is. It's orange and about 4" long. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to stop into his store sometime
