Anyone here own or into older Porsche models? I took a chance on this 1984 Porsche 944 that I got cheap. Dropped it off with a local Porsche mechanic for a good evaluation of what kind of condition it was in, and I got lucky. No rust, no accidents, and all of the required maintenance looked to have been done.

Here she is:

Looks like a perfect candidate for an LSx swap.

I have had 3 or 4 944 cars as well as a 928s, 911 and one of my favorite little turds, a 914. The 944 is fun and you can run the hell out of it and still get good mpg's. well built cars that if you take car of the basics will last a long time.

Looks real nice for an 84.

Not a dent or ding in the body. Paint is shot, but straight panels nonetheless.

Guy pulled up next to me today with a 924S. Said he has 3 of them that he and his kids drive.

Looks to be in great shape, enjoy it.. You can usually get those pretty cheap, that is why they are considered a poor mans Porsche.

I had one for a bit. Had nearly 200k miles on it but was still in pretty good shape just leaked a little power steering fluid and needed some paint. I was always amazed at how tight that car was....the handling and braking were just so smooth and heck even the doors closing was impressive. Miss the ol' gal.

Good luck with it!
