Since I set my camera's up I can't sleep if something is down and they aren't working. I redid the computer desk last night and hung the computers and monitors from above. I was up very late making sure all the camera's were back up before I went to bed. We just bought a better system for the house too. It can be viewed on a 3g phone :)

And i can view it too! ;)
My buddy showed me a few weeks ago how to access X-box connect systems and I-cam for Mac video apps... LOL scared the shit out of me. I keep all my cameras covered with sticky notes now until used.

So...I'm guessing Rick got another ticket. I don't like the Big Brother aspect.

My buddy is CPD and told me those plate reading camera cars are insane with how fast they can process plates as its driving down the road. He also told me my car has been registered by the database thousands of times and if they needed to they could enter my plate number and it would show them the last camera that registered my plate and when. It's slightly disturbing.

That's exactly my point. Your at an intersection and your accounted for. You head down the highway and up at the top of the lights is a camera with a solar panel, your accounted for. There are camera's everywhere and it's a bit disturbing to me. I really started thinking about it the day I was working in Kettering and my customer had installed all of them in Kettering as "traffic cams but it's a little known secret that they can access them and move them as needed to observe people".

Brian don't get me started on speed cameras, that's the biggest crock of shit going right now.

Honestly, the government has had satellite cameras powerful enough to take pics of you picking your nose while checking your mail for over a decade...this is just a little more blatant. They've been keeping an eye on us for most of our lives. If any of you think for one second they don't have your name and info and are able to track your cell phone anywhere you take it, you need to think again. Anything you can imagine them doing, i bet they're doing a step beyond that.

Some of the cameras may not be cameras though. In Delhi I noticed what I thought were traffic cameras near the new Frisches, near the Biggs intersection etc. Seems other people saw them too and had contacted the trustees. They published an article in the Delhi Press explaining that they in fact were not cameras but were motion sensors to trigger the new traffic signals. Seems they didn't want to dig up the pavement to put in the pressure sensors.

I have one really good camera and the rest are cheap. The good one tags license plates of cars driving down the road at 60+ mph over 150ft away from the camera

lol, I've had my house broken into and had a buddies brother steal from my house, cars, and garage. Caught him once on camera and the police didn't do anything because it was minor but he hasn't tried it again. One time in particular he cut the fuel lines on a vehicle on the lift to siphon the fuel out. I had to fix the fuel lines myself and it wasn't worth an insurance claim, neither was my 9mm,GPS or fluke meter he got all at different times. Sometimes you get sick of staying up all night to protect everything you own.
He had borrowed my keys one day and made copies of them when I let his brother borrow my truck to go to work. No good deed goes unpunished.

Mason put these in along with Emergency Vehicle detection so that the light would change before the emergency vehicle gets there to clear cross traffic.

I think a lot of people are upset by them, even more so after they get a ticket, without the right to face your accuser. I see the camera's making people slow down, which may make intersections safer, simply because people are going to avoid speeding through that intersection so that they don't get a ticket, and eventually the camera's will no longer be profitable.

What happens then? Do they remove the camera's...not. Do they start issuing tickets for 1 mph over? Do they start checking for seat belt compliance, or other non-moving violations?

What if the camera's do such a good job, that the contractor who operates them can no longer afford to operate? Do they increase the fines? Does the local Govt. take them over and pass a levy to pay for them with your tax dollars?

It is a complete scam!

I read an article about this where a group of citizens in a city sued the company that was controlling the red light ticket cameras. They showed that the sensors for running a red light were placed too far away from the "entrance" to the intersection causing people that went through on a yellow to be cited for running the red light. This wasn't all intersections but enough to cause a concern.

Makes you think, Who watches the WATCHERS??

Well, there's a flipside. I read an article where some lady accused her ex husband of breaking into her home, beating her, and raping her. He really had no proof that he didn't do it, and the timelines showed it was possible. He didn't do a thing though- his ex was setting him up. He got arrested, charged with felonies, lost his job, etc. So he's sitting in jail racking his brain about how he could prove he didn't do this and the answer was cameras. He went back to every place he was that morning and got either viedo proof of where he was and when- or used his credit card records to prove the same. He eventually got released and now makes it a point to get himself on video, do something to get employees to remember his face, use a CC to doucment a time and place, etc... So yea, it may suck most of the time, but it could save your ass too.

You head down the highway and up at the top of the lights is a camera with a solar panel, your accounted for. ?Those cameras are actually radar guns. They are NOT photo cameras. They are used as part of ODOTs Traffic Speed monitors for their website.

Check out ODOTs camera setup. Pretty cool actually! :bigthumb

Those radar guns on the light poles are what makes the map change colors for the different speeds.

I'm a little surprised that I seem to be the only one that's really bothered by it. We can't do anything about it so why worry ?

I like the guy that got caught running red lights (at camera intersections) and was purposely sticking his face towards his windshield while flipping the bird!

Needless to say, the judge was not amused.

I would rather deal with cameras than corrupt police such as union township and boone county. When I was 18 I was arrested for shoplifting and creating a bunch of other nonsense by florence police in the mall. In court I was let out of all the charges by showing the receipts after getting additional copies because the police kept them when they originally charged me and I argued with the reciepts. The officer also said I punched him and the camera cleared me of that. without the cameras I would probably still be in jail because of a lying cop with a hard on for me. cameras don't lie, corrupt police do. The cameras proved everything they said was a lie, they claimed to have kicked me out with several warnings. None of it was true. Their problem was with friends I was with who I was not around when any of the warnings or getting kicked out happened. Because I was walking towards the door with them I was treated like a felon. What would have probably cost em 1000's of dollars and 6mo-3yrs in jail ended up costing the officer 2 weeks of unpaid leave.

Don't speed, if you get caught, admit you weren't paying attention like I was Monday on WB 275 in KY where the speed drops. I wasn't paying attention. I had a funeral that evening and with the rain I was just trying to stay in my lane.

Don't try to beat a red light, even if you know the traffic pattern.

As a courier who drives 200-300 miles a day, 5.5 days a week around Cincy....

Quit being in such a fucking hurry while chatting on your cell for or texting a message at 70 mph, in the rain.

I see this every day.

All the cameras are bs. They use the idea of making it safer but in the end we all know its just another way to get money out of us.
