so I have a 351w bored .30 over with 69w heads that will be making its way into my 91 t-bird 5speed I want to turbocharge the motor with a set of twins the compression ratio should be 9.5:1 the motor has a forged rotating assembly I dont know where to start with picing togather the turbo system I have been told that I should try to find 2 t3 turbos but I dont anything about wast gate sizes or bypass valves are there any good books like turbos for dummys? or web sites out there (other then the turbo forum) and I cant help but think that the t3 would be to small

but a 2003 Mustang GT 4.6l is about 9.6:1 and guys bolt on turbo kits and blowers on them all the time

Yeah, but they also have aluminum heads and a more advanced combustion chamber.

This would be a good start for a turbo education...... I was thinking about posting up on my way to work this morning as I'm going to be looking to do a set up on my 347 around tax time.

Depends on a lot of things. Combustion chamber size and design, end goal, boost level, fuel ect.

I believe that a compression ratio of 9.0:1 is most suitable for this application.

Why? It's no different that one big single except it will spool faster. Hell, you can set up two small twins to work like one T76, only boost will come on sooner. CR has little to do with turbo setup.

9.5 is not a bad CR for a turbo setup, just don't go retarded with it and tune well. Sharad ran 15lbs from an F1R through a factory stock 5.0 (stock TB, E7s, exhaust manis, EVERYTHING) and that engine still runs today. It's all about the tune. 8.5:1 will blow JUST AS FAST as 10.5:1 under boost if it's not tuned for it. What about the LS1 guys that run 10+ lbs on a stock 10.0:1+ engine? TUNE. TUNE. TUNE. PERIOD.

Man this gives a whole new meaning to the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. I LIKE IT!!!!! I hope you keep the boost gauge active (though its not much of a gauge for your setup) for nastalgic reasons only. Would loveto see it when you get ity completed to take some pics to send a friend who had a Tbird Tcoupe once. He would get a kick out of it big time!

You wont find another forum with more info than Turbomustangs. Be sure to read the knowledge base at the top of the page. 9.5:1 isn't too much by the way.
