Actually, he lost it on his 6th DUI and got busted again for DUI in a Rental car.
How do you stop a moron like this from driving and constantly endangering the Public ?
Up here in Miami County, there used to be a Judge that would ALLOW everyone one busted for DUI go scott FREE on their 1st DUI! It would NOT go on their Driver's records! NO SHIT !

But, he will get out and what's the first thing you think he'll do?

My question is, how can he afford a damn vette if he already had 5 DUI's?!?

Funny thing is he told the Officer on the way to jail he was saving for a new one. The Officer's response..."We'll take that one too." :D

I think the dui laws are a complete mess. Its getting to a zero tolerence. I believe the punnishment should reflect the severity of the incident.

I believe the punnishment should reflect the severity of the incident. Therein lies the key. The key is to PREVENT an incident from ever happening in the first place! That one incident maybe the one that kills you, me, one of our family members or other people.
When I was with the OSP, they LIVED to bust DUI drivers. Believe it or not, one of our Troopers busted (4) in (1) Shift! It was a 12 hour shift, but hey! She got (4)! She actually was the OSP Trooper of the Year for 1993.
Anyways, most of the time we pull folks over they got Warning tickets. It was mainly a way to "screen" folks for possible DUI. I say most got warnings, but the OSP also had zero tolerance for No Seat belt usage. Every person I saw that didn't have a belt on got a ticket.

Is this the guy who won the lottery and bought his vette then lost it to DUI's? Wonder if this is the same guy.

The sticker is a little ironic:
"This vehicle was confiscated on the 6th DUI"
then below:
"We have a zero tolerance policy"
If it's zero tolerance, shouldn't it have been taken the first time, not the sixth??? Just made me chuckle a little...

It was his first felony offense and was the first chance anyone had to seize it....so we did. :D

This isn't one of those lottery winners that may have gone off the deep end is it? Seems like I remember a story some time back about a lottery winner who bought a corvette and started collecting DUI's so to speak.

No, this guy has...or had a 6 figure job. That guy was from Monroe and was getting in most of his trouble at that old strip club where Hustler is now.

No reason to take his car from him! That is shady crooked shit! I understand taking his DL away form him, fining him and throwing him in jail for years. But by taking the car all the police are doing is sending a FU message to him and the people. Its one thing if he acquired the car through illegal means.

I say take it away and the court should issue an order barring him from owning another vehicle. Driving is a privilege not a right and has certainly abused that privilege.

Give that man a big fat CIGAR!! I agree 1000%.
The person can pledge to become Amish and obtain a horse and buggy for transportation.

I agree this guy is a piece of shit, dont get me wrong. I have lost two family members to drunk driving. It will do no good taking his car. None what so ever. Its is just to benefit the government agencies that are involved. He needs locked up for life! Bottom line.
His remaining family member my need to sell that pos to cover there bills while his ass is on lock-down.

I'd rather he lost his car than someone lose their life when he's cruising around drunk in it.

He should have spent some time in jail at the 2nd DUI or 3rd at the most but I agree that he shouldn't loose his car. They shouldn't have any right to take another mans property.

I don't have a problem with them taking his car. This idiot had 6 DUI's in 3 years, it's obvious he was going to keep driving drunk regardless of the circumstance. My only issue is after reading the article it didn't mention him being charged with driving under suspension?? Surely this guy didn't still have driving privileges ?

He was charged with DUS but they were only misdemeanors so they just go by the wayside. He is back in jail now after being arrested for his 7th DUI a couple weeks ago. The Corvette will be sold soon on govdeals.com.

Maybe if a person gets his 7th ticket for going 130mph, it wouldn't be too crazy. You know there's a world of difference between going 10mph over and driving drunk.

What about distracted driving? Texting for example? The statistics show it can be just as dangerous as drinking. Soon it will be some teen age girl busted for texting and driving for the 7th time. And her dads car confiscated. Is that too far off?

I agree to an extent David. But by your thinking, is there a world of difference between 7 DUIs where the driver was 10 drinks in over the course of the night and the driver who had 2 drinks over dinner but is still "drunk" by the current standards? Its a slippery slope for sure.

If you want to dance you have to pay the fiddler. In this case seize all of his assets and auction them off until an amount equal to the cost of his "hotel visit" is met. Otherwise admit that the concept of chain gangs and work details are a good thing and reinstate such ideas though MANY feel this is "unfair treatment". Ever watch "Cool Hand Luke"? Something like that for a fancy white collar doing a 3-5 stretch for his 7th DUI should "set his mind straight". "But there are some people you just can't reach".
