I've used them before the one's i've seen they only tell you what the code is then you have to go figure that out.......

they work pretty good. I got one and you plug it into the port in the engine bay. it will give you the code and you have to look it up in the book that it comes with.

hey JFF thanx again for giving me the reader and bringing it by,oh yea the social time was kewl too,just got back in and bout to try some of ur sugestions,

Waste of money with the eec connector facing you and only 2 pins on top jumper the top right pin to the pigtail next to it, watch the flashing lights and look them up on the net. Been doing it that way since I started working on cars.

I was replying to the original post of getting one from oreilly auto parts. It really isn't a required tool. If you want a quick solution get an analog meter. That will read fast codes but isn't as easy to do.
