I am looking for a fitting to replace the location of the ECT sensor. My project will not have the tubing that runs back to the heater. The bung for that sensor is located on that tube.
I am looking for a fitting that is 1/2 NPT male and has the female threads to accept the sensor.
Thanks for any help.

Try your local hardware store.

Went to NAPA and looked at the fitting with that number. It is a 1/2 npt male with a 3/8 npt female. I need the 1/2 npt male with the straight threads that are the same as the sensor. They measure about a 5/8 18 straight thread.

what 1/2 hole are you using for the adapter? You may be able to make something up at Lowes with brass fittings but it will be a few inches long

My finger is pointing at the ECT Engine Coolant Tempurature sensor. It has straight threads. The hex off to the right is where the steel pipe that has the 1/2 NPT threads into the instake. Because my project will have no heater, I have no need for the double tube that runs to the rear of the engine that has the two rubber hoses going to the firewall. I was hoping to find a fitting that would have 1/2 NPT male threads and the matching threads of the sensor in the form of female threads.

The ECT SENSOR in my car does have npt threads on it. I figure as long as it sensors the tempurature of the coolant. What does that sensor cost? I may as well change them out.

if your sensor does have pipe threads on it then just call your local napa and ask for a
ts4060 and a 3220x8x6 or if you want a cheaper one get a ts4060sb and a 3220x8x6 and you should be set. btw this is 1987coupe forgot to log my buddy off and log me on lol

After looking at this further. I think you guys are talking about the sensor that goes to the gauge. That one is 3/8 NPT. The one I am talking about is the sensor that wires to the ECT that goes to the computer.

are you thinking about putting the sensor into the whole on the intake where the old 90 comes out of for that tube? worse case you can keep the heater core tubes and just loop it somewhere after the sensor. That way you don't have to relocate and it will still get proper flow going past it.

That is what I am tryin to do, eliminate the big ass double tube. I saw a picture in the chiltons manual that had a short vertical tube that the sensor screwed into. Maybe an old version, not sure.

Got ya. In that case a reducer bushing could possibly work then. That way it keeps the sensor in the flow line.

check this page http://www.westernenterprises.com/enterprises/PDFS/wi19.pdf
third section from the bottom shows a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer. something like that should work

Yes it would if it had the correct internal threads. The sensor has straight threads on it not NPT. They are larger than .625 so I am guessing 11/16-18 threads.

could always make your own threads hahaha. might be able to have the bushing brazed on there. or cut off the "swivel" end of the fitting and put a black iron bushing in the intake fitting and have it welded together. Then you could transfer the whole unit to another intake down the road.

You where right, I had a brain fart when I looked at the threads coming off the sensor. But the guy down at the local store showed me a part that would have worked. So that did not help me at the time.
So thank you for the info.
