I have been doing alot of reading and now i am confused ..
I will be running a set of Gt40P heads on my 306 but when i search around for the best street/strip cam the answer is usually trick flow stage 1 cam but i have a non roller motor...
So question is.........
what cam would be good with the heads and i need a little more info on the 302 versus 351 firing order....the worst part is i have a great sounding cam and engine when i pulled it but have no idea what cam i have at this point
I love body work and fabrication but i am no engine man :bigthumb
Any info would be appreciated
THANKS

The roller part will allow u to run a more agressive and more friendly cam but to each their own and to me nothing better than a custom ground flowtech

I hear alot about custom grinds but how do i determine what i need etc etc when it comes to a custom ground cam...
Thanks

You tell the company what you're running combo wise and they take it from there.

I wouldnt convert to hydro roller, stay with a flat tappet. Its cheap, 299 for lifters and cam, will make more power, lifters are lighter, less spring, etc. People always say hydro roller is the way to go, more aggressive, yada yada yade. Well i disagree completely, a e303,b303 or trick flow1 or 2, even some of andersons and most shelf cams are not aggressive.

Hydro. roller cams are more agressive in the "mid range" of the lobe. Honestly, I wouldn't convert unless it was to a solid roller unless it was already a roller block (OP didn't specify block). I personally don't like hyd. flat setups because of the lack of spring pressure and the fact that the cam lobes are easier to wipe out.

A roller set up relieves valve train stress that in my opinion has been proven to create horsepower. Also, the roller cams allow a greater range of cam specs from all manufacturers. There are many reasons or opinions why people would run a roller cam but these are just some of the basics.

just dont put a cam in it at all.. lol if you are gonna get spanked then why try.. hell you already have the floorboards out, no engine is weight reduction. i think you have a Flintstone's Vert. lol. anyways, call a cam company, of your choice, with engine specs and your desires, they will be able to point you in the right direction.. they know what they are talking about, they sell cams everyday. its their business.
