Will a 1979 mustang rear bolt right into my 98? thanks

Yes it will bolt in but the 79 housing is not as wide as the one that would come in a 98

Check too, if the '79 is an 8.8. If I'm not mistaken, it will be a 7.5.

It will be four lug, as compared to the '98 five lug, also.

Ian put the housing from my 88 in his 99 cobra. it was an inch or two narrower which helped fit bigger tires.

If it is really a 79 rear, then it will be a 7.5, and more than likely not a traction lock. They did not put the 8.8 in until 86.
