Contract approved this morning for the airports runway to be used for standing mile timed runs. I have a couple of turbo gsxr 1000s that will be trying for a 200 mph certificate. Rumor mill has hot rod magazine gonna sponser the event.

Sometime in april of 2012 . Councilman rob jahenig posted it to his facebook page this morning. He said that hot rod magazine would be sponsoring the event. Setty some of us did this when we thought nobody was around and about lost our jobs for it. I wont mention any names.

Is this going to be a test-n-tune type of event? Or, will there be classes? Will the ECTA be there or a different sanctioning body?

How long is the braking area?

Obviously, I'm very interested. If there are classes, I may take 2 or 3 bikes. If not, I'll probably just see what my GSXR1000 will do. (mostly stock)

Thanks for the information.

Now I have justification to change mine up to be one lol... I just read where it is gona be held by the ECTA. I guess they are pretty strict on rules and regs, so I'm gonna have to re-read them. I know everything has to be safety wired etc. Tires will be a ball buster too...

East Coast Timing Association (http://www.ecta-lsr.com/)

http://www.landracing.com - Land Speed Message Board

I'm not certain how much ECTA's rules differ from SCTA or BUB, but most of the LSR sanctioning bodies seem to have their shit together when it comes to making the rules simple (and safe). There's no reason other than gearing that some of the fast drag cars in this town can't come out and turn some big numbers.

I can't begin to express how excited I am about this event happening.

Bonneville is one of the venues on my motorsport bucket list that I haven't had the opportunity to take a vehicle to. Having an LSR event less than an hour from my house makes it a lot more reasonable to build a two-wheel machine to propel my fat ass past 200mph. :D

The more info i get , i will pass it on fellas. It is ecta that is hosting the event . Im just excited to see where i used to work for 15 years be open to bring in some buisness to our small town that has been hit hard. And like setty said , things we dreamed about doing while we worked there. Have to get the supercharger on the cobra and tuned for this event. I hope to see alot of you there.

Sweet! I'm guessing my rear tire with a plug in it wouldn't pass tech. Anyone got a link to their tech rules?

Looks like you have to join to get the rulebook, same as most racing groups.

I did find this though:
135-150 MPH requires a 4 point roll bar.
150-175 MPH requires a 6 point.

Too bad- I would like to let the Cobra stretch her legs (for once) but I'm not putting in a 6 point bar just so I can exceed 150 MPH without risking jail/impound/big ass fines.

So what would happen if you register as a slower class then go faster than your supposed to?

I am guessing they will tell you to not do it again and if you don't listen your ass gets thrown out LOL.

Interesting wonder what the little car would do with a 6 speed and a gear for a mile run:cool2:

Brakes are a factor. There are many fast cars running around with stock brakes. Stopping from 125 MPH at the dragstip is very different than stopping from 200 MPH.

I'm also excited about the event. I need to buy a membership so that I can study the rulebook.

This rule kind of sucks. I was hoping to see how close to 200 I could go but I don't see spending the money on a floater rear end just for this event.

ll-5 DRIVE HUBS: Above 150 MPH, any vehicle equipped with a non-retained axle bearing (non-Hotchkiss type rear axle) assembly must incorporate an approved hub to prevent loss of a wheel in the event of a rear axle failure. Semi or full floating rear axles are sufficient. Late model rear ends using ā€œCā€ clip axle retainers are NOT acceptable.

Good point...luckily there is about 4000-5000ft. of shutdown on the runway (depending on which one is used), so hopefully that will take some of the stress off the brakes.

2008 Motorcycle Rules (http://www.ecta-lsr.com/rules/2008MCRules.pdf) - From what I can tell the current bike rules are still pretty close

I sent in a check for my membership yesterday. :)

That and a tune that works perfectly fine for a blazing fast 1/4 mile pass may or may not melt things with an extra 3/4 mile worth off WOT running. That is a LOT of extra stress and heat in the system.

Hmm party at my place.....hell yes. How bout a steak to the person that goes the fastest ... Cause honestly going 200mph you need some balls. Personal ill be happy if my car goes over 135.

Have ran at ECTA events and been a volunteer several years ago. They are very layed back events, but much more strict on safety than most drag strips. The tech-in is a close inspection if you intend to go over 135mph. They might let a few simple items not up to tech slide till the next event, but not much. You get a log book that is used to keep track of required changes and it must be presented with the car at the next event.

If you exceed the safety tech of the car you are done until the required safety items are rectified. There is some wiggle room on the MPH, but only by a few MPH.

This is great news. Looking forward to the events.

I've already started researching re-gearing my busa, and talked with my tuner about what to do with my tune to make it talk even more on the big end. I'll have a nitrous 1000 and nitrus big motored busa ready to go play. I just cant get over this, it's like God wanted me to fufill my dream lol...
