HELP!! c-6 in reverse all the time.

I have a 79 f-150 with 400m and c-6. Somehow, the reverse gear stripped on the output shaft. I got a tci rebuild kit. It had replacement springs for the valve body. Now I've got it all together and back in and reverse is engaging in all gears...park neutral and 123. What the heck have I done? I suspect the valve body. I thought I had done everything correctly but I guess not. Anyone have any help? I am afraid if i try to reuse the atf when I pull the pan again it will be contaminated so I can't keep dropping the pan on 45 bucks of atf as trial and error.

i pulled pan and valvebody last night. reassymbled doing same thing. only thing to do now is remove whole thing again and disassymble. only thing i can think of is low reverse hub isnt seating.
