I had a problem with one set of Autolite plugs many years ago where the you could see the plug glow at night. It had a blue halo around the porcelain. The strangest thing I have ever seen and haven seen it with anyother plugs I have used since then. I didn't have any special ignition systems and it was the low voltage point system too.
Are you sure it's not coming out from under the boot? I have seen where the inside of the plug boot got dirty and it allowed the spark to pass down through the boot and jump to the lug.

I've never had good luck with autolite's. I put a set in my 94 a few years ago, and it developed a miss within 1000 miles. Changed em out for NGK v-powers and ran it for like 4 years on that set.

For the last 20 years I only put NGKs in the gas engines I own. Right now they are in my F150, Cobra, Seadoo, JD tractor, Stihl chainsaw, Echo weedeater, Redmax blower, Ariens snowblower and tiller. I run the irridiums when I can get them for the application. NGK plugs have never let me down.

i just changed to ngk plugs and new ford racing wires and it still does it. its not actually arking it just looks like the porcelain is glowing. is this from the high voltage from the msd box?

Here's a better explination than what I could have written.
Glowing Wires/Spark Plugs
This event (visible in the dark) appears as a bluish-white glow around the spark plug wires or spark plugs, and may branch between wires or to an engine ground surface. Corona discharge does not necessarily indicate a problem with the spark plugs or wires but is more likely a maintenance or installation issue. This discharge is virtually silent as compared to the 'snapping' noise heard when a wire is actually leaking high voltage.
The cause of Corona discharge is the ionization (making conductive) of the surrounding air. Ionization releases electrons from the oxygen molecules and the resultant energy release creates photons (light) to be produced. This ionization is caused by the presence of large voltage differentials pulsing in the wire.
Certain contaminants on the jacket of a spark plug or wire can enhance the liklihood of this phenomenon to appear, such as accumulation of oil or grease, dirt or paint overspray. Spark plug wire routing will also have an effect. If spark plug wires are allowed to touch an engine ground surface or if they are bundled together tightly, the chance of Corona discharge is greater. Alternate fuel vehicles, such as propane or natural gas powered, can see increased liklihood of Corona discharge as well. Residual vapors from these fuels cause easier ionization of the surrounding air.
To minimize the chance of Corona discharge, spark plugs and wires should be kept relatively clean and free of noticeable amounts of contaminants. Spark plug wires should also never rub against metal engine parts such as valve covers. Proper loom clips should be used to separate plug wires. Avoid bundling wires together with cable ties.

so clean your plugs and clip up your wires.

Plugs are new and clean wires are new and clean i just have to make my wires shorter and rout them better

i put dielectric grease on the plugs and routed my wires and it still does it so i disconnected my msd box and it still does it this car has me stumped once again
