So I got my cars ignition all figured out and timed it dif ways I tried with the number one cyl and waiting till the air is being pushed out than droping the dizzy in and althats number one but no luck but if I recall when I pit the motor together I just tightened the nuts all the way down on the rocker arms could this be my problem and or keep it from starting

Timing:
Bring number 1 piston to TDC on compression stroke. Drop dist. in and align to number one on cap. roll the balancer over to your desired initial timing then align the cap to the rotor and tighten it down. Now your timing is completely set.

what kinda rocker arms? rollers or stock? if stock they have a trq spec of 20-25ft lbs i believe so that may be an issue.

you are correct. on the TQ specs, and i would agree the rockers could be an issue. just tourqe them down correctly

set each cyl. to TDC on the base circle (intake and exhaust valves closed) and adjust each rocker to "0" lash (pushrod will spin in between your fingers but zero up and down movement). Then go another 1/2 turn maybe 3/4 with aluminum heads after letting lifters soak in oil a day. This is super easy with the intake off especially since you can watch the lifters!

So I got the tqr right on the arms but still nothing. Timed it once the right way shot a flame out of the carb!!!!!! Someone said I was 180 out so he came over tried it switched it both places where I had it and turned it 180 and well nothing I am stumped!!!!!!!!! any ideas to check please let me know the only thing I could think of it being is a miss print on the timing chain sprocket which one of my gerunds have seen. Hopefully that is not the case

Sounds like your rocker adjustment is all out of whack. Start over and follow Outlaw85's instructions above for both the dizzy and rockers.
