Just wanted to let everyone who thinks when they go into Amelia Holtman donuts that they are not going to get the quality they have grown to love from the Goshen and Williamsburg stores. Goshen and Williamsburg are both owned by the true owner of hotlmans donuts. They bought the rights(involved paying off almost $200,000 worth of family debt from family who borrowed against the company),name, store and recipe from the original owner. The Amelia Store is a cousin who decided to run the name into the ground. They have full intention of selling it to foreigners in 5 years. They are not using the "Holtman" recipe and the true Holtman donut owners are not responsible for those disgusting excuses for a donut. If you want the real thing go to Goshen or Williamsburg. There is a law suit in action and the name will likely change soon, but until then I wanted to let everyone know what they are dealing with. I wouldn't like it if someone tried to steal my name and profit from all my hard work and neither do they. It is a huge family mess from people who just don't want to do things the right way. They were offered a franchise lease and said they were born with the name so they have the rights. That is not how the law will see it. The name and recipe have been copyrighted years ago.

I know the one in Burg. Where is the one in Goshen?

I may get up early tomorrow and go get some. It has been a long time.

They aren't open on sundays anymore, Goshen is on 28 right next to Larosa's near the bowling alley. Goshen is the Original store and where all the donuts are made.

I used to frequent the Holtman's in Goshen until I bit into a donut and saw HALF a worm. I took it back and complained and the guy basically looked at me and said, "What do you want me to do about it?" I haven't been back since-that was 20 some years ago.

How does a worm get into a donut? It was probably a burnt piece from the fryer or something. I went there often when I was a kid because my mom was good friends with the lady that worked there then. The owner from then sold it to his daughters husband and they are my In-laws. They keep that place sterile as can be. I have eaten more than my fair share (and it shows) of them and have never gotten anything strange at all in one.

Trust me, it was a worm. I am guessing it was in the flour the donut was made with.

ewww, you would think they would notice. what kind of worm gets in flour anyway? I have seen the little bugs that get in stuff like that but never worms.

I'm sure it wasn't a normal happening, but I couldn't go back. As much as anything, it was the attitude of the guy I talked to about it.

I grew up with their kids. Use to frequent the place myself on 28 going to work. No longer travel that way and it's been years since i have seen or spoke to any of the family members.
