Trying to figure out why you want to use a mossburg. But then again, I wouldn't do that stuff to a good shotgun so now I know why you are using a mossburg!

Not sure what you mean by this.
As I have multiple Remingtons, a Benelli Nova, and a Mossberg 500.
My go to out of all of them is the 500. Granted it's not as smooth as the Nova it's just as smooth as my Remington 870 and lighter to boot. Plus the 500's safety is in a far better location as I don't have to adjust my grip to toggle the safety on and off.
I personally am not one for lots of mods to my guns I like to keep them simple and full functioning.
Only thing I added to my 500 is a enlarged metal safety.

It replaces a cheap plastic piece and gives much more surface area which is nice when wearing gloves.

i have added a polymer pistol grip stock and forearm and a shell side saddle to a 500. not much to it. i picked everything up from www.midwayusa.com.. you have to shop them, sometimes their prices aren't the best out there, but they usually have what you want in stock and ship quickly. well worth the look for price and accessory comparing.

You should know, I believe you are a LEO. Mossburg 500's can not handle much abuse at all. Look at what most PD's use. I have seen and heard (cousin is second in command at Richmond) mossburg's that guys bring in for training down there leave with a broken mossburg and a remington as it's replacement. Of course I don't think most people on here with shot or abuse a guy as much as it would in a cruiser.

Mossburgs are ok. My army unit uses the 500 and. These things get treated hard everyone shoots 10 rounds twice a year in training so 10 shotguns 600 rounds per year and and these are left overs from the first gulf war. We got some privates younger then are newest 500 they haven't missed a beat yet.

I'll put my mossberg up against my Remington or Benelli in a torture test any day.

I have a 500 and I think it is great, I like it better than my cousins 870's and the price of mine was right which is another plus.
