This is my first attempt at doing a true detail with paint correction. I'm tired of paying someone else to do a job I can do better, so I gave it a shot.

I used Meguiars products, all by hand. I'm pretty happy with the results...

Trunk after:

Door handle was in bad shape. Scrap on the front, and finger nail scratches behind. Here's it corrected:

The next day I saw it in the full sun light and it looked pretty good. My grandpa said it looked like it was just painted! :bigthumb

No doubt a HUGE improvement! Beautiful shine! Which of the Meguiar's products did you use? I used their Ultimate compound yesterday on my hood and trunk lid before a coat of wax.

Yep! I wanted to clay bar the car before the UC but I didn't have the time.

Not bad at all for doing it by hand. Invest in a Porter Cable 7424 and some good pads and youll be amazed at the difference.

What he said ^^^

The 7424 is a kick ass piece of equipment.

By hand???? Wow that's insane. A porter cable will cut the the time in half and work better. Get a bunch of different pads foam. They are different amounts of cutting power as well as the product. Best way to see paint correction is with a shop light tripod on the side of the car. Ive done many jobs thinking I'd done q great job only to turn the light on and see all the spiderwebbing I'd left. The light is a must. That looks like a great job.

Here is what you need. No joke, the 7424 will cut your time by 75% and your work will be 100% better with it. Dont be afraid of them either, its damn near impossible to mess up the paint with one of these. This is the best deal you will find anywhere. I paid $115 for JUST my 7424 about 6-7 years ago and it didnt come with a backing plate(25bucks) or any pads. I have probably 100+ details under my belt with it and it still works like new.

I think I'm going to try Meguiars DA polisher first.

That looks like a rebranded Porter Cable.

Probably is. I like Meguiars products, so naturally I'll go with their DA too. Just eaiser to use thier pads, polisher and product since it's all designed to work toghter anyway. I know a PC would work too, but the speeds and pad types on the meguiars bottles are labled for their DA.

I do like doing it by hand though. I think I'll just use a machine for heavy swirls or scratches that I cant cut by hand. :bigthumb

Either one you go with youll be fine. Make sure to give us a review of it though. Havent seen one other than online myself.

Oh and once you wax a car with a DA, youll never want to do it by hand again. You can have a car waxed and ready for removal in 5 minutes easily.
