Therein lies the problem with our judicial system. She may not be guilty but she sure as fuck is not innocent so where does that leave her? Free on the streets while her daughter is dead. Karma's a bitch.

I think she is guilty as sin...but the hard evidence the state had actually linking her directly to the crime was lacking. Don't know if we will ever know the whole truth..only her and her parents know.

+1....poor evidence and prosecution allowed her to walk.

She may be guilty...but not beyond a reasonable doubt.

SO, does that make her innocent? Or just not guilty enough??

They didnt prove she was guilty of Murder 1 "Premeditated" But i agree with all the above. She should still rot in hell. She might have got by Mans Law But she will not get away from Gods Law. She will get hers..... If she had any kind of conscious she would just kill herself!

The family is getting tons of death threats from the search party. I think there is someone out there who will take her out. Give it time. I don't agree with the decision at all but that's just my .02 cents

I am in the air on this one, I have seen first hand that the system is more likely to convict an innocent man than to free a guilty one. Innocent until proven guilty is not accurate. There has to be something we are not hearing about or the guilty would have fried her. On a side note the guy who murdered my sister today got the lowest thing possible, simple manslaughter. After admitting he went to the cabinet unlocked it, got his gun, loaded it, stuck it under the pillow just in case and then shot her with it when she tried to break up with him. He got a sentence of 8-13 years and my sister was put in an early grave. The system does not work at all.

I would not place any blame on the prosecutors. They presented a strong circumstantial case; the jury just did not buy it. The prosecution did its job--the jury didn't do theirs.

I guess you are right..but circumstantial cases are just that, and they seem to not fare well in a jury trial.

Sorry. But you are incorrect.

The burden of proof lies with the prosecution, which they didn't...

Prove Casey did the actual killing...

Prove Casey hid the body in the swamp..

Prove Casey put the tape on the child...

The jury did their job perfectly. We may not like it, but it is correct.

That said, I think the entire family are worthless pieces of shit.

Thank you!! I think she is a worthless POS, but based on what I have seen/read/heard, I could not have convicted her of this crime either. Sorry. Sad sad story though.

I would not place any blame on the prosecutors. They presented a strong circumstantial case; the jury just did not buy it. The prosecution did its job--the jury didn't do theirs. I disagree. The prosecution did a mediocre job. The defense team out did them. They were allowed to make a circus of it. The jurors did a fine job. They looked at everything with a non bias that I could not have. The prosecution did not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. I wanted to see her get the chair as much as anyone else.

Is the dirt sucking scum bag guilty...absolutely. But guilty of what exactly, who actually murdered the child? I think its horrible what she was sentenced with. My guess is the little slut will make some quick money as a porn star and be broke within 5 years and found dead with a needle in her arm. Still wont be a fitting punishment for whatever part she had in that innocent childs death. RIP angel you are in a better place now.

In what manner did the prosecution do a "mediocre" job?

In what manner did the prosecution do a "mediocre" job?

The prosecution failed to :

1-Prove how she was murdered
2-Didnt put Casey at the crime
3-Didnt prove Casey put the duct tape on the child
4-Didnt prove she put the child in the swamp
5- built a case on therory

Thank you Johnnie Cochrane.

You seem to suggest that there has to be direct testimonial evidence or forensic evidence to support a murder convinction. Not true--you don't even have to have a corpse to prove a homicide.

The prosecution had no direct evidence because there was none. So tell me what evidence existed that they failed to present? And while you are at it, how did the jury convict Ryan Widmer. No one saw him do it; there was no forensic evidence tying him, and only him, to the crime. Yes, yes, that jury convicted him based upon circumstantial evidence--the prosecution built the case on a theory.

That was also the wrong verdict.

You asked and I gave you my take on it, agree or disagree thats how I see it. I think we would all agree she did it, but at the end of the day , the prosecution did not convince the jury.

Because I do not trust anything the media says I am going to side with the jury. they had the accurate information and we had what the media fed us. It is what it is. Someone is going to have a warm eternity. I saw the lies of the media with my sisters death and a similar incident when I was young. A buddy of my sisters skipped school to go to his girlfriends. They were doing things they shouldn't and the kid she was babysitting went out to play on the swingset. Jumped off the top and got stabbed in the eye by a picket fence. He was charged with attempted murder and spent over 6 months in jail and trials. According to the media there was all kinds of stuff they lied about. The truth was a simple accident.

Don't blame the jury. The State did a lousy job of prosecuting the case-just like in the O.J. case. They're bigest mistake-going for murder 1. You can't go for the big one if you can't PROVE it.

All Government workers know they are perfect so there brethren must be too. So in this case it was the juries(the people) not the states(government).

She probably did it but you can't prove it so she walks.

I hate when the state rushes into something to play the emotions of the public in hoping to win off of that.
