I have an 86 gt with a 91 ho motor, 650 dual ine holley, edelbrock performer intake, street cam, dual timing chain. The rear end is 410. When ever i really rip on the car smoke comes into cockpit. I have the stock clutch and pressure plate. The smoke smells kind of like oil, but i can not find any leaks at all. Could it be the clutch slipping or the rear main oil seal leaking at higher loads.
Car does not smoke when sitting and cracking the gas pedal. thanks

boy sounds like your having all kinds of issues with this car........ do you notice any oil on the ground after it's been parked for awhile? i'm not saying it couldnt be the rear main but for it to make smoke it has to be getting burnt and there's only a few places that can happen...... with the hood up and it running i'd have someone revv the hell out of it and see if any oil is coming from the valve covers or, maybe the dipstick tube.........

i will try that, the valve cover gaskets are new but i put a new dipstick in that could be the culprit, thanks

Had one do that at the track it was just dumping oil out of where the tube meets the block....... what valve cover gaskets did you get? Just because they are new doesnt mean they are tight and not leaking anywhere and if it has new oil in it it might be difficult to see it dripping from the gaskets...... I just put a motor in mine and i siliconed the crap out of everything and still had a couple of little leaks

Ive seen alot of dip stick tubes leak at the block. Also check the rear of the intake. Sounds like it could be a few different things causing it.

did you silicone them or just dry? I use the rubber one's with the metal in them...... you can use them over and over pretty much

Ive had this happen before. Did u use the cork gaskets on the front and rear of the intake? Sounds oil is getting pushed out the back of the intake and onto the exhaust at high rpms.

My buddy had problem kinda like what you are have but it didnt really make it to the cockpit, but it made the engine compartment fill with smoke and make it look like it was pucking oil on to the headers, and found that since there was no pcv and just vents on top of the valve cover the smoke was coming from the vents. And it would only smike bad under heavy loads. We solved it by put an 6 or 8 AN line from each valve cover to a vent canister. Might want to try that
