My 85 vert isnt stock but the biggest issue you is that i dont know what is all done. My question is that i know its best to match up cam intake and carb.. but its got a very lopey cam..600 eldelbrock carb.. but has the stock orgninal intake.... What would you suggest i go with?

Sorry, i'm an Edel carb hater. I've had so much success with a Wieand Stealth intake on a 302, i can't suggest any other duel plane intake. They kick ass on a bolt on 302 and even put down respectable numbers on my 347.

Actually I live in ohio......but connersville is where I bought the car from...the kid I bought it from only owned it for maybe two months so he really didn't even know anything it..I dont believe he was much of a car person. The carb was way out tune, timing was off and was low on all fluids.....but anyway thanks for offering the help

One thing that made a drastic difference on my Stealth was a Wilson Manifolds tapered 4 hole 1 inch spacer. It was night and day...more top end, awesome throttle response etc.

I was looking into spacer even before you posted this but my only concern is that iam running a stock hook and have no desire to go with a cowl hood. Do you believe i will have any clearance issues with the stealth plus a spacer?

Yeah i think you probably would have clearance issues. The scoop on my hood provides quite a bit of clearance. You might get it to clear by running a smaller breather...i'm running the stock duel snorkel breather.

That was my main worry about using a spacer. i have heard good things about using them with the stealth intake. Every stang that i have owned has had a cowl hood for some reason i have fallen in love with the stock clean look of the 85 i have now..... I have a million things to get done on the car but trying to focus on the important things first... We all know our minds wander when we start planning a build..

I dont want to change up things that i know i will just change later.. I have wasted alot of money over the years on changing directions in the middle of a build. My goal this time around is to plan and then build...

Apperciate the advice and Tech from ya SS..... Alot of the bangerz have helped me alot.. I am a paint/body and fab guy. I will be the first to admit iam not a engine man

Well, if you don't wanna run a cowl, you could always look into getting the GT scoop like i have. They look at home on an '85 too.

Here ya go http://www.stangbangerz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73431&page=2

The hood i have has a hole stamped out from the factory, but you can cut the hole as you need it. The way the scoop is taller in the front allows for extra breather clearance. I have ran the Stealth and my 1 inch spacer under this scoop with no problem, on stock and convertible motor mounts. I also run one of those throttle brackets that goes on under the carb, so with the throttle bracket and the spacer and three gaskets, i'm probably more like 1 3/8 taller than the Stealth by itself and i still had a bit of room before the breather hit the hood.

ok ... its the 82 style hood.... for the life of me i couldnt picture what scoop you was talking about.. I know my 84 had the similar but was turned around like a cowl hood and had the cut out..
