Man Phil you need to just use a GM HEI module with a stock '85 carb distributor and save yourself a shit ton of cash. The modules are like $17 and put out as much spark as some aftermarket ignitions do.

well by the time i buy a 85 distributor and a module ill be at the price of buying a hei distributor??wouldnt I???

I guess that depends on how cheap you find an HEI distributor. I guess if you find one cheap enough then yeah, but you could also get a junkyard distributor and a parts store module and have less than $50 in it.

Be careful of those low cost ebay models. google the seller before you buy there have been tons of problems. One of the companies changes names every 2-3 months and continues selling junk and shipping incorrect parts. Once you have it they are gone and do nothing about it.
