View Full Version : E-85 combo
Any one have any E-85 302 or 351 combos they would like to share? I want to try E-85 this time because my last motor would only gun on c-14 VP. The car has 4.56 gears but can put the 4.88 gears back in. Dont really want to buy another gear set. Also if anybody has pics of how they reinforced their upper torque boxes could you post them. I work in metal fab I can make anything just need something to go by. I made the tubular k member in my car and it came out great. Thanks

Nxcoupe has a 393 running on E85 and had a blown 347. Jeff88coupe's old nitrous 347 ran on E85 as well. 05yellowGT's 3V 4.6 currently runs on E85 as well. When my new engine is finished it will probably get a tune for E85 well but it won't normally be run on it because its 40 miles round trip for me to get it.

There is lots of combos that run well on E85. If your starting from scratch..build the combo to take advantage of E85's 105 octane and cooling effects. Many N/A guys are running 12-13:1 motors with E85. Boosted combos really do well with the corn juice due to the cooling effect of the ethanol on the intake air temps. Many guys don't even run a intercooler (especially with blowthrow carbs) when running E85. You just need to have a fuel system that is up to the task. Needs to be able to flow 30% more than what the combo would need on gasoline.
I'm currently building a 338/SR cam/TFS HP heads/75mm turbo combo to run E85...looking for 800+rwhp with it. I'm running a Weldon 2035 fuel pump with a 10 feed line to 160# injectors.
Check out www.e85performance.net Lots of good info there.
I'll have to dig pics up it started with an aje k member. I had to make some changes to it due the length of tubing I got from work (scrap price almost free) but it came out nice. Made lowers too. I'm about to make one out of chrome moly it will be even lighter.

Well, my combo is a flat top 393 with 56cc or so TFS heads, STage 3 tfs cam, R intake, 42 lb injectors, matching maf, GSS340 intank pump, stock lines and rails. Has stock pullies, a/c, p/s, stock fan, etc, makes 435 n/a. Never detonates, or has any issues, clean idle, sounds and runs great. 475 ft lbs of torque. Hope this helps.
Its going to be a carb motor. You guys send your carb off or convert it yourself? Fuel system should be up to it #8 from cell to carb with a holley black pump figure the pump would be the weak link.but it would feed my last motor.
