so what does that mean? the light in my 97 GT is flashing...

it happened while i was driving on the highway tonight, the car shifts fine and the overdrive turns on and off

the transmission is throwing a code. Go have it code scanned and list the code, maybe I can help ya.

if its flashing, thats a little more serious than just on. could be as little as a TCC noid malfuntioning on up to internal transmission failure..

if the car is still shifting ok, its not transmission failure. Its just the computer has detected a problem and it is letting you know where by eigther flashing the O/D light or turning on the check engine light. When the O/D light is blinking it throws thows the transmission into a limp mode just a if it was for the engine.

I just went through this a week ago. More than likely its just a sensor. But you still need to pull the codes.
