FREE firewood

We dropped a Ash tree today. Rotted in the lower end. There is a good 60-80 foot of tree that would make good firewood.

It is free to anyone that wants to come cut it up and take it.

Its because of the spread of the emerald ash bore beetle. Although I'm not sure it makes any difference, they already predict the ash tree will be no more within the next 10 yrs, or so I've read.

I don't think his concern was the law, as Rick said, the ash borer beetle is doing serious damage to those trees.

I was hauling some Cherry, and white oak to McCoys saw mill in Adams county to be cut up. Got stopped by ODOT, and they checked to make sure it wasn't ash. Officer said, there was a big fine if caught transporting it. I'd rather be safe , than sorry.

Exactly! My cousin was stopped a year or two ago in the same manner. Luckily he wasn't hauling ash either.

yeah its a hefty fine regardless of who you are. Up north at the campgrounds in the state parks they were checking peoples vehicles for firewood being brought in.

In Ohio, violators who transport
non-coniferous firewood and ash tree materials out of a quarantined area into a
non-quarantined area face fines up to $4,000. Other states have similar fines in
place. USDA-APHIS fines can be as high as $250,000 if quarantined materials are
moved across a quarantine boundary (e.g., state border).

I would be more than happy to take it as we heat with wood and we're about out, but I'm not in the country to come get it right now. Let me see if I can get ahold of someone to come get it.

Kris, I have a lot of wood on the ground. If you have someone who can come over before all the brush fills in, you are welcome to it. The ash tree is very easy to get to, it's in the backyard!
