Do you guys think that a C4 would hold up in my car? It's ~3600lbs with driver and I'm currently at 700rwhp but could be in the 850-900 range in the future. We're talking stick rwhp numbers of course. If you think it will hold up what kind of parts would it take and anyone have an idea of the price range? I'm hoping that selling my TR6060, twin disc clutch, Pro5.0 shifter, crossmember, and driveshaft would offset most of the cost.

Probably would with frequent "freshen ups". But with the weight of your car and possibilty for more HP a TH400 would be a much better choice. It would take anything you would throw at it.

But, if you plan to do any street driving, consider a nicely built 4r70w. Contact Dan (silverfox) at clickclickracing.com

I would say th400 with the weight and HP And the RPM

NMRA renegade guys have to use c4's and the ones they use are not cheap they are 3200 pound plus with 850hp

I don't understand thm400 in a ford, especially a smallblock because a c6 would work as well. I'd go powerglide, being a modular c6 isn't an option so if you want 3 gears 400 is the only choice. For street use a 4r100 is capable, but that will be expensive.

I had originally wanted a 4r70 but that isn't in the budget anymore. What kind of price range is a th400 to get up and running? I'm not too worried anymore about street driving. Other than the ocassional cruise 700+hp is just stupid on the street (its my Dad genes kicking in).

I still don't believe it makes 700........but I like it. A powerglide will probably be the cheapest route.

LOL fair enough. The car still hasn't made a full pass down the track with more than 16* of timing. On the dyno it made 715 with 23* of timing and 500 with 10* of timing I keep finding tables in the tune that are pulling timing during parts of the run. I cam sure that I was getting full power at the start line my last trip at the track, as evidenced by how badly I destroyed the DR's even launching off idle and by the time the top of 2nd gear came around the car began pulling timing down to about 15*. It will get there, just don't have the time to go to the track, datalog, make tune changes, and work on my driving skills.

I have a Dynamic C4 in my 3900lb T Bird that runs 9s. No problems yet.

Give Lonnie a call. Tell him I sent ya. Mod motors dont car too much for a powerglide setup with such a drop in the gear change.

if its only going to the track put a glide in it and forget about it. But, if your still going to drive it on the street then no way. You will hate a glide on the street. Fords Transmissions out of Greenville,OH builds a good glide and for a fair price

That's where I got mine, he's very knowledgeable about them. Mine hasn't run yet but I talked to lots of guys who bought from him before I made my purchase.
