Well winter is over so what did everbody get done to the stangs while in hibernation? Or what are you still trying to get done before summer?
I managed to knock my car off the jack stands and in to the wall, but I'll save that story for another thread. Every year when Oct/Nov comes around I always have big intentions for what I want to get done to the car over the Winter. It always seems like it will be so easy to get everything done because Spring is so far away right lol? As usual though Spring is here and I only accomplished about half of what I wanted to. I'm still pretty happy with what I got done considering my limited amount of time and budget. When I bought the car it started as just a body with no suspension or drivetrain so it took some work to get it to where it was last year. I didn't have the money for alot of the things I wanted so I had to use a lot of stock stuff to get it running and driving. Thats why the car spent all summer at car shows. I caught a lot of shit for not racing it which was pretty annoying because there was nothing I could do about it. I was probably asked at least 500 times why I hadn't ran the car yet. When I would explain that it had a worn out stock 8.8 with 3.08 gears, stock drive shaft, no anti roll bar etc etc they would just look at me like "so?" I had no desire to run the car on stock axles with a 3.08 gear, whats the point? Anyway, here's what I got done.
The first thing I did was pull the rearend out and strip it down. I ended up buying a new/used housing because mine had a tweaked control arm bracket. I took it to Moser and had them weld the tubes, install 9in ends, and a brace. Why I was there I picked up a 35 spline spool and axles, and a diff cover. When I got it home I stripped the whole housing down with a wire wheel then painted it.

After I got the axles and everything in I decided not to use the stock disk brakes. Instead of having the caliper brackets machined to work with the 9in ends I decided it would be smarter to just sell the whole rear disk setup and buy a new set of Aerospace drag brakes. Since my car is a 94 and has 9in ends they had to make custom brackets for me. Its a pretty slick setup. The caliper brackets are machined to retain the axles in the housing. Since I went this far I decided to go ahead and make new brake lines to. I ran 3/16 hard line to the lower control arm brackets then went from there to the calipers with -3 braided. Also installed new UPR spherical bushings.
