So a couple months after I bought my car it started actin up on me. For example, I'll be driving downshift and hit the gas and it sounds like the motor is hesitating and then kicks in and goes. Or if I'm accelerating and let off the gas and then hit the gas again it does the same thing. Back last june I had a motor swapped into her, and just put a new tranny in, flywheel, clutch, rear main seal, and rear end seal. I'm thinkin it has something to do with the air to fuel ratio maybe, something with the intake. Any ideas please let me know, I wanna get this figured out so the stang is all ready for the warm weather

How are your motor mounts? sometimes week motor mounts can cause some weird problems. Id let the car idle and pull on the harness anyhwhere you can and see if the idle surges. If so check out all the connections!

Check all vacuum hoses. My 86 vert did that,it had a hasitation at throttle tip in. It ended up being a cracked vacuum hose under the intake on the back side. Also check PCV,and make sure it has a tight fittin connection. After time, the black gasket piece in the lower end's up becoming hard and brittle and will shrink up just a bit. Enough for a vacuum leak and drive you insane.

It has urethane motor mounts. And i'll try the harness idea and see what happens. You'd think though with a shop doin the motor work they would've caught a connection problem. So we'll see

Looks like I have a few things to try tonight. If it is the MAF, do I need to replace the sensor or the whole thing?

Ok, so I unplugged the MAF, and when I started it, it started idling up and down. But then when I started driving it stopped and seemed to run better and speed up smoother unless I got it a lil and seemed to start cutting out at 4000 rpms. So what does that sound like it could be????
