This has been bothering me for a while. I went through my bank account recently and realized I spend $2500-$3000 a month on food. I have a family of 4. How out of line is that? I'm curious as to what others spend to eat each month. I'm going to try to cut way back.

We are a family of 6 with the 4 kids between 7 and 2. I would say we spend around $1000-$1500 a month on food if you count everything.

we set back about 400 hundred a month for food. Then we eat out prolly 50 aweek. Family of 3. That seems like alot to me but its something that has to been done right? Lol but i can afford to live off the land a bit. Just eat real good one week and starve the next!

WOW , I know food prices keep going up but I personally dont spend much more than $400-450 a month to feed me. And I do buy some pricey stuff (orgainic fruits and fresh vegetables and also like fresh spices). I think you can get it down to something more manageable. Good luck!

craig i knew you spent a lot but not that much guess when you eat outback and olive garden everyday twice a day it adds up fastLook at it like this. And this is on the cheap side. Me and the wife go to lunch $20-$25, then when the kids get home dinner $25-45 then we spend $10-15 a piece for stuff to eat all night at work. Doesn't seem to bad at first until you add it up to 30days

You need a lesson from my Mom in coupons. She has 12 people in her house and with coupons she spends less than 1000 a month. Her house is always packed with pop and snacks and name brand stuff as well. She went to the grocery the other day and SAVED 600.00 from a 1000 dollar grocery tab.

That's high!! But depends on where you eat. Do you eat at home? Cook? Go grocery shopping daily? Lots of factors. Best way is menu planning, stock piling & coupons to cut cost. Happy to share who started my addiction!!

I go to Sams and stock up on the BS like ketchup dish soap paper towels, ect ect. I also get rice and large bags of frozen veggies, summer time i grow a large garden and can the food. I also purchase a whole cow, half pig, and some deer. I have been doing this for about 1 1/2 years and i saved about 1,300 the first year. Just in cost of food, not counting the gas you spend going back and forth to the store every damn day. You save money by purchasing in large amounts and save gas from having to go back and forth. I also have chickens so i get free eggs year round. My next ideal is a goat, free milk and it will keep my grass short.

I have 4 people and spend about 2,500-3,000 a year. Not counting eating out or family/friend meals.... cook out ect...

PRO 5.0 TIP: put a bull bar on your truck and bag a deer once a week or so. that will significantly lower your food buyying costs and leave more money in the bank to buy that blower you always wanted!

I spend about $80-160 a month for me and my wife, and we have 3 cats that never miss a meal.

We use the heck out of coupons and she only buys stuff on sale. Normally it rings up $300-400, then after coupons and stuff it's like $40-80 ish usually. The only times we get hit hard are when we buy tide and stuff that is never on sale.

Learn to use coupons...your mod budget will appreciate it. In my case, the "keep the wife happy fund" thanks me. Prior to coupons I was spending around $200 a week. This also includes stuff like bathroom/kitchen supplies, air freshners and cleaning stuff, etc...

The key is stop eating out all the time. We stopped eating out so much and saved a ton of money.

Well if Rob is part of your family I could see it :)

JFWY you and rob.

Living at home (STFU!) I spend about $120-150 a monthto eat at home but I also buy all the pop, ALWAYS on sale. I clip coupons and wait for that item to be on sale.

An example, Hormel 1.7 pound pork tenerloin, normally $7.99 on sale for $5.99 plpus I have a $1 off coupon.

Where I end up spending money is eating out. $12 with tip to hit up Golden Corral lunch for example. With gas prices rising it is getting to the point of NOT being cheaper to come home for lunch between routes. That $5 in gas + $3 for lunch at home, I could get Wendy's....but not as healthy either.

I'm thinking of a mini powered cooler for the car and packing my lunches.

.

Watch CVS on this. Sign up for P&G coupons. Between the coupons and the ECBs you can get it on sale and for a great price!
